@HendersonTRKing - Thanks for the heads up on the cutter. I've got a cutter just like that I got from an auction that is coated in a greasy film. I started to clean it up, but it's filthy in all the spots you can't get at. For $25 I've decided to toss it and get a new one.

I contacted OREN last month.  In case anyone is interested, below is the email the're distributor sent me.  Same paper, larger quantity.  I'm just not sure if I could ever use this much paper.

A single roll of the 24” x 1000’ butcher paper is 47.40.  The estimated freight to PhoenixAZ is 26.18.  I can have that shipped out today via Fedex 3-day ground.  If you would like to get that order finalized, please call me at 512-837-5887.

    Thank you,

    Cheryl

That's what I did.  I thought it would be a lifetime supply of butcher paper, but after some of the guys at work ate my brisket they became converts to butcher paper club.  They all wanted some paper so I typically give them 20' or so at a time and tell them to let me know if they need more.  As a result, that roll will probably only last me 2-3 years.

Question, I currently have some spare ribs on my offset - should I wrap them in paper?

It's just one mans opinion but no. I tried it and didn't care for the end at all. I found that the grease overwhelmed the paper. Hey you may try it and like it. However I did not. In my opinion pork just doesn't do well in the paper.

I think @cazzy also tried paper on pork ribs and didn't like the results.

My pleasure brother. I was eyeing that cutter as well. May go back and order it.

I have tried it on pork ribs and a pork butt. The end just doesn't justify the means. It makes a real mess. Again, there may be folks who like it. However I do not. If you wait until real late into the cook, it does pretty good on beef plate ribs though. I have wrapped some at 175 that were actually pretty darn good. Wrapping earlier doesn't work so well.

Just curious my friend, have you tried wrapping a chuck roast in paper? I have been wanting to try it, but if you have tried it and know that it won't work that will save me the trouble of attempting it.

I may give it a go tomorrow. I will sure let y'all know how it turns out. Your best guess, early or late wrap? I'm guessing late just basing it on the plate ribs. However I could be off by miles. Your thoughts my friend?

It never ends. Having a BGE is like having a Ford Truck, next week it needs something else. I have both, I know of which I speak. I am selling the Ford.
If you will trade that Ford in on a Chevy, your problems will be solved. All a Chevy needs is a little gas every now and then. Those Fords are a like a woman, they are very high maintenance ;)
I have to disagree.  I like my current F150 over the Chevy Avalanche I had.  It cost me all kinds of money.  The last straw was when our of the blue it was burning through 2-3 quarts of oil a month and was smoking bad and was going to bed a new motor at about 85,000 miles.  My Ford has a lot more room, power and rides great.  On the Avalanche I had replaced most of the drive train, replaced barings a couple times and on and on.

I have an old Ford Eddie Bauer Expedition, 4.6L. The engine is fine, 181,000 miles on it so far, it has been to hell and back, and it is ready for its second trip. It is the little things, that keep going, but at the age of this truck, I just joke about it. I had a chance to get an old mans truck, but I did not like how low Chevy trucks were. So I got a real man's truck, I got a Ford.
I would have bought the Chevy if I was going to haul women's clothes, flowers, and manure, and not allow my wife to drive it anywhere but to the grocery store parking lot or the mall. But we love the outdoors and the adventures off road, places Chevy trucks don't do so well. They have yet to build a Chevy truck yet that was worthy enough to carry a YETI cooler.

  • If anyone is actually considering a new Chevy truck read this thread first, just on this one truck forum there are 450 pages about the 2014 -2015 trucks and their vibration issues. And I know from first hand experience how true it is

Seriously though if you have a Ford, year models between 2002 and 2014, watch your hood around the seams for corrosion.
