Forced to go Vegetarian!

Planned to do lamb rib chops as a rack with sear-indirect approach along with sides.  The rack, from Costco looked good but smelled funky!  I don't do funky. So, had heirloom tomatoes, yellow squash from our local farmers market and SWMBO's potatoes and onion (with a little homemade bacon, almost vegetarian). So it all went on the egg, direct, 450.  The squash and potatoes for 8 minutes, the potatoes for 45.  It worked out.  SWMBO made a great tomato-cucumber salad to go with.  Missed the lamb for sure, but ate well despite!  Last damned vegetarian dinner for me though!

Nothing wrong with that at all. Good light summer meal.

Like a fantastic ensemble cast in a movie that doesn't have a true leading man/woman. A thoroughly enjoyable experience but without a doubt, something is missing. Veggies do look great though. Nicely done!

You might be able to return it to Costco.  You can always ask... Like you, I don't do funky either.

Costco has a no questions asked return policy.  You can definitely return it.  Great looking veggies.  Based on the title I thought you had received doctors orders to go vegetarian for a while for health reasons.  I'm glad this isn't the case!

@Grillin_beers,I am a doctor and would rather die eating meat!  Appreciate your comments greatly.  Probably won't try to return.  Just one of those things!  And still the egg saved the day.

I am putting together a support group for eggers that test the dark side. Help can only start when you admit it to yourself. Then we can begin the long journey back. Go to your fridge and pull our one pound of bacon. Egg it. Eat it. Everything will be ok. I am worried bro'.
Seriously, good looking meal, I love veggies too. Grew up on skillet corn, tomatoes, green beans and

@youkonRon,  appreciate the props and the food we grew up on.  Might also need the support group!  More importantly, started curing 12# of pork belly today that I'll post when finished.  Don't need the support group just yet ;)

Every time I get lamb in cryovac it smells funky. Last time was really bad. It ruined lamb for me.

Looks great! This time of year with so many delicious fresh veggies we have many meals that don't include meat. Fresh veggies on the grill are hard to beat. @sgh will probably accuse me of heresy!

Too bad about the lamb. I've had that happen once, but worse. When I took the meat from the 'fridge, the bag was puffing up.

But the veggies look great. The problem I have w. all veg meals is that there doesn't seem to be as much savoriness, and not having a main protein to focus on makes it seem like just a bunch of adds and ends. (And don't mention tofu!"

Assuming the cryo was not puffing up per @gdenby, lamb always has a rather funky smell to me. SWMBO would not even try it based on the precook smell. Butcher told me to rinse when removing from the cryo and then give it a rub using a a 50/50 mix of lemon juice and water, followed by a water rinse. He was right, no lemon juice smell and more importantly no funky smell.

I actually like vegetables, especially fresh grilled ones. However I like to have them as a side to compliment the main course. The main course should always be meat though!!

Thanks all!  The bag was not puffing up.  The lamb however had beyond the normal lamb smell.  We'll take the bag back to Costco as suggested!
