I've been off the poison since '07 and I can promise you that life really is better (and easier, believe it or not) without those sticks!

(I wouldn't touch eCigs on a bet, but a good friend used them and has been off smokes [and eCigs] for almost a year.)

I really liked those Df's when they first hit the market, but wouldn't really gain anything from what I have. Enjoy it! It has a D4 engine, which was the flagship Nikon camera before the D4s.

Now the body is one thing, do you have glass to go along with it?

I always said my ideal camera would be my FM-2 with a digital back; this is gonna be as close as Nikon will come; I like manual control.
And, yeah, I've got the glass.

You have that and more with the Df.

As fat as the lenses, I just wanted to ensure you had FX lenses to accommodate.

Dealing with the realization that I'm not as near tech capable I use to be, trying to find the best way to keep in touch with the wife while she is in Europe with her mom.
Hell I thought I was having a good day, got the 733 to work on second try for a pork butt on the egg.
Time for another Black Crown beer, not bad but nothing special while the Kale Polish sausage soup cooks.

The new 80-400 is a great lens that has walk around flare to it.

Really any of your big boys are going to work well (400 2.8, 600 4, 800 5.6).

I personally use and highly recommend a 300 Winchester Magnum. It will really reach out there for those long distance shots.

300 is the longest I have, shooting DX also (i'm looking at a used 400 f2.8 for sale just north of me this weekend, but its probably too much coin).
I don't try to get "portraits" of bears anymore, I like a bit of the background around an animal and a 300 (along with some patience) works for me.
I currently have Nikkor 20, 50, 105 Macro, and 300f4 primes, and 24-85 and 80-200f2.8 zooms.
I look at the longer, more expensive glass, then realize I can simply crop a digital image on the computer and get the same scene; yeah, the resolution isn't the same, but is it worth $7,000?

THIS could be an option. The Tamron 150-600 is a little slow, but within a budget though.

Personally not a fan of non-Nikon glass, but it has received some decent reviews.

I've read about that lens and it's a viable option as compared to Nikon prices for big glass. I'd be all over it if it were f4 or better
