Curious to know why you want f4 or better?DoubleEgger said:
I've read about that lens and it's a viable option as compared to Nikon prices for big glass. I'd be all over it if it were f4 or bettertarheelmatt said:THIS could be an option. The Tamron 150-600 is a little slow, but within a budget though.
Personally not a fan of non-Nikon glass, but it has received some decent reviews.------------------------------

I was thinking that was the case, but the difference between 5.6 and 4, one stop essentially, is very minimal and a one stop increase in ISO will get the shot, if you have the means to go one stop higher in ISO.DoubleEgger said:The best critters come out at daybreak and dust.------------------------------

I should be able to. I bought a 610 last fall and it far exceeds the capability of a amateur still on the learning curve.

It's a very capable camera. I shoot a D600, which is the same as the 610, except the shutter mechanism.DoubleEgger said:I should be able to. I bought a 610 last fall and it far exceeds the capability of a amateur still on the learning curve.
I have no issues pushing it to ISO6400 and getting great images. I have a shot from when I was in Rome, Italy at St. Peters, ISO25600 and looks great. Yes there is noise, but a little NR and proper sharpening techniques, it is good to go. Now, you don't want to blow it up to billboard size, but for standard sizes, it's acceptable.------------------------------

@DoubleEgger going full frame was a game changer. I hardly worry about light anymore. Between the camera capabilities and some strobe practice. The camera just makes light.------------------------------

Wow. That's nuts. I need to shorten my learning curve.tarheelmatt said:

@DoubleEgger here is the shot and EXIF data. Is the quality of the photo degraded, yes. Is it acceptable, yes. It is merely just a snap shot though, however it was only meant to show what the camera is made of. This place was dark with no light. The camera made the light.
Oh and handheld at 1/13th of a second. Shows how the VR works these days and I guess some of my handling skills.

That's nice. I've been there and you are right. Zero light.

Back to Titos biotches. Had a bottle since like page 10 of this thread and the Moscow mules got me back to it. Picked up some spicy orange ginger beer after putting some tile down and on number 2 now. 4oz vodka, squeeze lime, 8oz ginger beer over ice and good to go in a large tumbler. Now I have an excuse to but some mule cups.

Thank you kind sir @tonytiger It'll be interesting to see what Tiger does at the US Open

A lower f-stop does reduce your shutter speed (which can be compensated by ISO) but the OTHER difference is: blurring the background. Tomorrow I'll find a couple pics that show that well.tarheelmatt said:

@BotchI can definitely get the Bokeh on some of my lens. The 50mm 1.8 does it very well. The 16-35 f4 is decent as well and it accepts filters. I'd like to have a 70-200 2.8 although that's pissing in the breeze at Yellowstone
-
I like shooting waterfalls so lower f stops and filters are my friend

-
Yeah, I know and understand what an f stop is and does. However from f 4 to f5.6, you're not going to see the difference. Furthermore, at long distances, the faster aperture will not make much of a difference anyway.Botch said:

I was sitting here wondering where the moderators are for that other thread that's gone off the deep end. Then I see the ribs above and remember why I'm a member here. Thanks for restoring my faith in humanity @WeberWho?
