  • @Mickey:  No, we didn't have our first BGE by then.  Salado was our first fest to cook at.  I just went and checked my motel confirmations in my old email and it was in 2012.  Was that the second one?

Name tags for the M&G would be nice. They help to figure out who you married the previous night, while the libations flowed. Keeps things organized.

@caliking I was in Houston for 4 days weekend before last.  I almost called you but didn't have your number.  Plus I was pretty busy with the Nucking Futs race team.  You would have liked my old HS/College buddies - way more class than the rednecks on this blog. :D

You and Jr missed last year. I am not sure his education can suffer another loss of resource. Think it was said best by: Harold Hill: Mothers of River City, heed that warning before it's too late! Watch for the telltale signs of corruption! The minute your son leaves the house, does he rebuckle his knickerbockers below the knee? Is there a nicotine stain on his index finger? A dime-novel hidden in the corncrib? Is he starting to memorize jokes from Captain Billy's Whiz-Bang? Are certain words creeping into his conversation? Words like "swell" and "so's your old man"? If so my friends, ya got trouble!

Noted - and largely agreed. And I'm sure that will convince SWMBO and the in-laws. :)

PNWFoodie... I usually open up the on-line registration after the holidays.  Too much stuff going on during that time to do anything.  As each person registers on-line, I automatically add their names, along with all of those coming with them, to the Who's Coming section of the Blog Site.

If you are just wanting to see who might be there in March, just go to the Blog and look at who registered for the 2013 Salado Eggfest.  Almost everyone returns.  And, of course, others like to add their names to the list.  Here's the link: http://whoiscomingtosalado.blogspot.com/

If you just want your name to be first on the list, I add the names somewhere between 1:00 am and 3:00 am, but nothing happens until after I announce that the On-Line Registration is Open.

I'm just reminding everyone to mark March 14, 2015 on their calendars now so they won't do something foolish like book a cruise on that date.

    See you in Salado.

You'll have to drop by the house or at the very least meet us out for a lunch or dinner.   I'm not sure what our schedule is, may be in San Antonio at some point, but we try to avoid the heavy holiday traffic so that may be before or after christmas.   I'll text you my numbah.

@DMW Male: anyone under 5'7"  I just made that sh*t up.  They do get stuck in the croc treads, though.

@eggcelsior - with all the hyperbole about Crocs being the "wost shoe ever made", "antithesis of fashion", etc.  I just have to wear them.  I am pure, f*ckin' anti-fashion.  Don't get me close to anyone with fashion or we'll self-annihilate.

@nolaegghead, no doubt. My commentary just relates to the weird popularity with shoes made for diabetic gardeners. You are like the original "Crocs" hipster.

I figured that's why you wear a hat - to dilute your antifashionness and avoid spontaneous combustion.

He doesn't lie. Hat, Atari shirt, cargo shorts, dress socks, and Crocs. He just needs a dirty robe to complete the ensemble.

I have the dirty robe on now.  I wear the hat so I don't have to comb the hair.  No bald spot under there.  Total pragmatism.  My body and mind are a cooking machine, streamlined dolphin-style.

I know.  I've seen him in action in Salado and San Antonio.  I'm thinking the dirty robe will stay on for the entirety of a holiday weekend like this one.  Although I didn't initially come to the same "He is my hero." conclusion that you did, the more I think about it, the more I think you may be on to something.

If we all emulate Nola in Salado, we'll have the good citizens of that picturesque town thinking that "Eggfest" is code word for "a gathering of homeless people".

@Foghorn - I suppose I could be a conformist and wear a kilt.  There was a weird international kilt shortage before the 2013 Salado which kept me from even considering it.  Same reason I didn't buy a Harley during my midlife crisis - nice bike, but it's a tramp stamp of the middle aged, made exponentially worse if one puts all that fringe stuff on the bike and wears Harley D branded everything.  That bad-boy non-conformist rebel stuff is long gone.   I bought a scooter, a BMW F800R (which almost nobody knows what the heck it is) and am building a freakish steam-punk bike.  I suppose I conform to the non-conformists camp, so I'm no better than anyone.  Lack of style is my style.  My t-shirts have formula.

@caliking - dude, I'll hook you up a bunk in the manbearcave.  Hell, you can even stay in the house with us and the cats, we have a spare room.
