Reminds me of a smaller Tebow. He wears his jersey skin tight making it dificult to tackle him. I think defenses will figure them out and contain him better next year.IrishDevl said:

Johnny Football is the real deal. Who cares if he is short compared to most QBs. The guy has more gifts than any player I have seen in a while. That 35 yard touch pass off of his back foot in the first half was sick. Little flick of the wrist and he dropped a perfect little dime piece. Fun to watch and great job A&M landing that kid. He is special.Columbia, SC --- LBGE 2011 -- MINI BGE 2013

Herbstreit was just on ESPN the other day giving predictions for next year, and one was Johnny Football repeating as Heisman winner.

What a bold prediction, way to go out on a limb there. My prediction for next year, ESPN will continue to be the most useless sports channel on TV.YEMTrey said:Herbstreit was just on ESPN the other day giving predictions for next year, and one was Johnny Football repeating as Heisman winner. -
I love listening to Dan Patrick rip on ESPN, aka, The Tebow Network.IrishDevl said:

The NFL will care about his height. Of course, he might still be growing.Chubbs said:Johnny Football is the real deal. Who cares if he is short compared to most QBs. While I agree that espn generally sucks, I will point out that espn made Dan Patrick and unless you're not planning on watching the game Monday night, which espn is airing, it is not really that useless. Lots of great sporting events are on there.

I.D. I never said I didn't like football. I said professional football is a contest to see who has the richest owner. No regional loyalties from the players whatsoever. As you move down the line, the "local boys" are playing for their hometowns and state, culminating with high school football. If you look at the Houston Texan's roster, you'll see that 4 out of 53 players went to college in Texas. That's a whopping 7.5%IrishDevl said:

ESPN hasn't always sucked. It's a general direction that they are heading in recently.Mighty_Quinn said:While I agree that espn generally sucks, I will point out that espn made Dan Patrick and unless you're not planning on watching the game Monday night, which espn is airing, it is not really that useless. ESPN has become more focused on being a checkout lane tabloid and farther away from pure sports.

All I know is that my beloved Sooners took it in the neck last night! I also know my beloved Aggies won last night! When you went to both schools, it's hard to lose! I'll say this, the Aggie Band is the finest precision marching band in the nation! Boomer Sooners, Gig'em Aggies!

For some reason I thought you stated you didn't care for football in a thread. My bad. I certainly understand loyalties and also understand Texas produces the best football players in US - which means they are well repped in the NFL just spread out.

I agree with you comttrly, they seem to try to hard to be the cool hip sorts network and forget that sports doesn't need the ESPN hype machine. -

It's amazing that the game isn't on a national station, but ESPN got it and no doubt very happy. Probably will be the most watched college football game in history.Mighty_Quinn said:While I agree that espn generally sucks, I will point out that espn made Dan Patrick and unless you're not planning on watching the game Monday night, which espn is airing, it is not really that useless. You're not blaming the players though for refional loyalty in the nfl right? -

I don't know what you mean, XL. I don't blame anybody for anything. I was just stating in a previous thread why I don't care for professional football (not that I think anybody should give a $hit what I think).XLBalco said:You're not blaming the players though for refional loyalty in the nfl right?__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious -

i just wasnt sure if you were putting that on the players that they dont play from their hometown like it is a choice of theirs.

Guess Manziel was tall enough last night, over 500 yds of offense...Not Too Shabby
Congrats to Ole Miss on a nice win today too.
I'm a Dawg Fan but I'm also an SEC Homer, Pull for all SEC teams when they are not playing us!

Manziel is the same height as Drew Brees, who just broke a bunch of NFL QB records.
The NFL isn't a contest between who has the most money and can buy the best players - it's a socialist environment - there are salary caps and all the revenue is shared.

@JohninCarolina- Drew Brees is a pocket passer who can't even see over his line. Done pretty well. Mike Vick is more of a comparison to Manziel and he is listed at an inch shorter than Manziel. Height will definitely come up when he is drafted, but it is clear the NFL teams are starting branch out for more of a dual threat player at the QB position with the emergence of Vick, then Cam, then RGIII, Luck, Wilson etc. Manziel will have a future in the NFL.Columbia, SC --- LBGE 2011 -- MINI BGE 2013

I agree, after watching him last night. He will be one of those nfl quarterbacks on the shorter side, but one of the best when he is fully ready.Chubbs said:@JohninCarolina- Drew Brees is a pocket passer who can't even see over his line.
