OT - What are you doing now? (2026)

The King didn’t miss much while away in the new world but makes a timely return to witness end-of-season intrigue in the PL. Arsenal have bounced back, putting what pressure they can on Man City - who hold a game in hand and that could be very significant. With just one relegation spot up for grabs it has become a two horse race between West Ham and Spurs. Recent form and points total favours the Hammers, but neither can be fully trusted either way.
Friday
Leeds United vs Burnley - clear home win, the Clarets are sunk and have sacked the manager, their hosts are fired up and ready to march deep in to the over 40 points zone. 3-0
Saturday
Brentford vs West Ham - all games are must win games for the Hammers as one slip could see them below the dotted line. The Bees ended their long draw streak last week by losing, so hope elixir for the more reliable visitors. 0-1
Newcastle vs Brighton - much as a home win will likely push Palace down the league table and be against the run of recent form, it’s what I want. And on that basis it’s inevitable that the filthy fetid Seagulls will romp to victory. 1-2
Wolves vs Sunderland - one of increasing proportion of futile fixtures, neither has anything to play for - with the Old Gold down and the Maccems safe. in the margins the final league standings are worth about £3m more the further up you finish. 1-1
Arsenal vs Fulham - no margin of error for the Gunners and the chance to post three more points before city play on Monday will be significant motivation. The Cottagers won’t be there for tummy tickling, but this is the sort of game that title winners dispense with minimal fuss. 2-0
Sunday
Bournemouth vs Palace - rarely a lot of fun and usually a draw, this fixture is not the one that either of the sets of fans look forward to. Palace won last night in Europe and really that’s the focus now - so a pedestrian 1-1 would be lovely.
Man United vs Liverpool - 3rd host 4th, and in the words of Maverick, that could be inverted. Home advantage and general consistency say that Utd will take this. It would be great to think they will share 7 goals, but likely much less. 2-1 feels about right, but not the game I’d bet the farm on.
Aston Villa vs Spurs - for West Ham read the same for Spurs, plus more anxiety and jeopardy. Below the line with four to play and minus two points to the team above them - not the ideal time to visit the team in 5th. On the plus side the Villans played in Europe last night, one the downside this is Spurs and just to underscore that, their best player got injured last time out. 1-0 and anguish sustains in North London.
Monday
Chelsea vs Forest - five league defeats spelt the end for the boss of Chels’ - then a bounce back win in the Cup, meanwhile Forest have found good form, beating Villa last night in Europe which belies their lowly 16th place. Really, this should be nailed on home win, but it’s on shaky foundations. 1-1
Everton vs Man City - yes City have momentum but they have not looked convincing in their last two games, which they won by one goal each - against much weaker teams. The Toffees will fancy this match, not just to bring European football closer next season but to insert themselves in the narrative about who will win the PL. 2-2
And proper whiskey just got cheaper for you guys too. Splendid.

Waiting for the sheriff so I can go pick up some of my things from the divorce. Called “Keep the Peace” escort. Pretty cool offering from local PD. Let me be an object lesson to you all, don’t ignore red flags when you get in a relationship with someone 🤣🤣🤣

Looking so forward to this being done. My ex doesn’t, she wants to just fight everything. The stupidest stuff too. I have pretty much caved on everything. I just want out! Been going on 17 months at this point, just crazy. We dated for less time before we got married.

Oh she has, luckily her lawyer and the judge know it so on video they asked her for about 3 minutes straight - do you agree, do you know what agreeing means, are you aware we are speaking english? Do you know what it means when you say the word "yes"? It was bizarre, but understandable. Then the lawyers and judge agreed that they would sort out the final verbiage on the decree and did not require anymore signatures from us. She has argued and said "see you in court" since then - and the lawyer and judge have all been, nah, she can't do that now. You are done. Its all just dotting i's and crossing t's at this point and judge has the final say. So in about 7 days it should be final. What a **** show nightmare of a divorce, but worth every penny and thankfully I get to enjoy the next half of my life.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Any other Cleetus McFarland fans here? I started watching his videos when he was working out of his home garage for videos. Watching him jump from shops to tracks and now NASCAR has been a pretty cool journey. I just read that he will be running a Blues Hog truck this October. I remember having to drive down to Missouri to grab Blues Hog sauce while there as it was the only way to get it. (The local BBQ store owner would do runs a few years later to stock it on his shelves.) Now you can buy it at Walmart or the Web. It will be fun to see Cleeter running a Blues Hog truck this October!

Watched the Kentucky Derby for the first time, yesterday. Wasn't until the re-runs that I realized the horse whut won, was near the rear of the pack for the majority of the race; quite a finish. Otherwise, it's a bunch of Pretty People with way too much money and funny-looking clothes. Not my thing, kinda reminded me of some polo matches I attended in Dayton OH a long time ago.

@Botch, that is my impression as well. In addition, a buddy of mine in college (early 1980's) went and had the most affordable ticket available - in the infield. He described that vast difference between his expectations and the reality of the event...Botch said:Watched the Kentucky Derby for the first time, yesterday. Hanging around in the infield with no view of the track with a bunch of people who drank too much (apparently having someone puke on you was not uncommon) and did not seem to even be aware there were horse races going on...

@CPFC1905, you may be interested to know that I turned on the "Clasico de Inglaterra" (we have multiple subscriptions for viewing access but apparently with our subscriptions we can only get Man U vs Liverpool in Spanish) expecting to find that Man U was down by a goal or two. I was pleasantly surprised to find the Man U was up 2-0 about 30 minutes in. When they literally gave away 2 goals in the first 11 minutes of the second half I was left wondering "How do they know I'm watching now?". Ultimately, they redeemed themselves with another goal but it was dicey there for a while.

Most times high society shows up to the Crown Jewels of regular events (World Series, Daytona 500, Any F1 race, etc) they have no clue what is going around and are just flexing for their fake friends and followers while raising prices for people who would actually enjoy the experience.Foghorn said:

I've been to a few VGK games and the premium seats are always full. I always get lower bowl seats and have never been able to improve my seats that way. However, when we lived near Houston, I was able to get fantastic movement at Astros games. That was when they were consistently the worst team in the league. To be fair, those seats weren't too much more than the ones I paid for.Las Vegas, NV -

Security isn’t that much in these places if you are not causing problems. Always got lower loge seats in the old gardens. Hated the seats when they rebuilt

RIP to an Atlanta legend. Fair seas and following winds Ted Turner.

I rather think he is a far larger legend than just Atlanta., worldwide should not be a stretch to say. A note about his land ownership in my state (NE) . . . I believe he is the largest owner by acreage. By all accounts I've ever heard the operations are a poster child for responsibility and cooperation with fellow ranchers and local governing bodies.DoubleEgger said:RIP to an Atlanta legend.
