Best of luck to you John. Germany looks like a great place to explore.

Safe travels.  Enjoy that beer in Munich!
A possible tour of this place is being discussed as well:

Scoring that would be a true capstone bonus.  Should there be any for export let me know as I could see that as a unique "one-off."  I just tried to on-line order but no go for the USA.

Yes it looks like you still need to practice taking pics.  I don’t recommend trying to take a selfie, unless you want your head to explode.

I'll be the first one to admit I have no idea what I'm going with my lawn. Every year I'm having to reseed my lawn as half my lawn or more in dead come spring time. This year a bit the bullet and spent some real money on some grass seed that is put together here locally in the Twin Cities that is more fitted for our growing environment. (I've been buying grass seed prior at big box stores that has to fit everyone's needs and much more broad for material.) Last week I dethatched, seeded, and hauled in dirt. All was good. I come home after work and I see this.

Did someone come and fertilize the wrong house? That's not good. You're not supposed to fertilize for 6 to 8 weeks after you seed. I talked to my neighbors to see what they knew. They said a company came in to hydroseed areas where they laid fiber Internet. The crazy part is that they didn't lay any fiber cable in my yard. The did lay cable a few inches away on my neighbors side. They must have assumed they laid cable in my yard with the dirt i brought in for the seed last week.

When leaving my driveway I see a tanker pickup slowly drive up my street and I jump out to ask them what was going on with my yard. I asked them how my new seed was going to work with the hydroseed being laid over top. They had no idea what I was talking about as there was a language barrier and I don't think they knew what I was saying. I think they thought I was maybe upset. I was just curious how that was going to work. They said, "Do you want more?" I figured they might as well do the rest of the front yard since they did about 40-50% of it earlier. It was nice of them to offer. Although I didn't even have any work done to my yard!

I came home to this after I was done running errands.

They even did the other side of the driveway.

I have a feeling I'm going to have a ton of grass or none at all. I talked to my buddy who does lawn care and spraying and he doesn't think it will hurt anything. Time will tell...

No comments on the colour of your lawn. I have no idea what is going on there.

As far as lawn care writ large, I hired a company the first year we were here, documented their schedule, and have since followed it in subsequent years.

Here on base, a similar-looking blue stuff is sprayed on the rock boulevards; it is weed killer.  I hope to gosh that ain’t the same thing.  I’d be calling your city hall, maybe even visit with photos in hand.

That's a good game strategy. The turquoise color is the hydro seed they sprayed today.

I'm 99% sure it's hydro seed. It looks very similar to pictures I've found online below.

The blue stuff is a dye you can add to any tank mix so you know what you have already sprayed.

I’ve had it done on several projects though never on someone else’s private property. We mainly used it to get slopes stabilized and keep the DEQ off of our backs. I’m of mixed opinions about its effectiveness but it can be sprayed where it is difficult to get tractors with seeders and lime or fertilizer spreaders. It’s much quicker also.

The hydro seed will probably grow fast then the local seed will start later and thicken the lawn up.

Little better.  Maybe change the one bulb left in the kitchen that’s coated with wok grease and coal dust

I read that germination is 2-3 days with the hydro seed and 10-14 days with the other seed I put down. It would be nice if they both work together.

im thinking the hydro seed will help shade the local seed when the local seed starts to sprout. most local seed grass in the north likes a little bit of shade. you will probably lose a bit of hydro seed grass next winter. the hydro grass will help with rain runoff this year while the local stuff takes over
