At 41 years old, I peeled shrimp for the first time. That’s my wife’s job. I think it will continue to be her job from this day forward.

RIP to a legend. Here’s a video of Norm Peterson’s bar entrances.

This is ripe for a standalone post honouring (nod) Norm.  Great clips.

Believe or not, there is a time of year up here, although very short, where shade can be nice. It is a birch and that building to the right is a sauna, and we are often out on that deck. If I move to my left, there is a good unobstructed view of the lake. Snows all gone now again at least. This should be the end of it....I hope

In the OG WAYDN thread there was a discussion about spending a lot of money on plumbing and not being able to see the results ….. well I found a better way to spend money and not see the results, and when you are done you don’t even get a place to flush your **** down. Lawyers.  Glad I have them, but damn man, they get spendy.

When I lived in Austin, property taxes increased steadily and dramatically year after year. You could fight it, but from people I know that did, the effort to do so and be successful was often not worth the savings.

There are companies that will protest the valuations automatically on your behalf, $0 to play if they are unsuccessful, 40% of what you save that first year if they are successful. Stupidly, I told myself I'm not giving away 40% of my savings to them! Without having recognized that without them, I would save $0.  60% of what they save for me is better than 100% of $0.

Kind of similar boat, except you don't get the luxury of knowing how much they saved or preserved for you vs going it alone.

Depending on your circumstances, some might argue they do in fact facilitate a flush. No offence intended if that’s not your situation.

A lot of truth …. won’t know till it all shakes out.  But multiple businesses, property, investments, trusts, etc etc I wasn’t doing this without guidance.  First offer was I give up half my 401k and half the properties and walk with nothing else.

My response was to laugh too, that didn’t go well.  I really wish someone had met with lawyers 6 months before they pulled the pin so they actually knew what it would look like.  Would have saved all of us a ton of time, money, and grief.  Or maybe a simple google search would have been beneficial 🤦🏼

Best to have the lawyers involved 100% of the way. Oh, and you can make her pay for your legal expenses too lol

The truth behind that statement is pretty crazy.  I’ve done more things and had more fun in last 4 months than in years.  I wouldn’t go back even if I walked away with zero or she came back and said she wanted to try. - boiled frog was analogy my friends gave.

     ThemoWorks customer service strikes again!

I believe this is my first battery change on my Thermopen One. I feel like it's ten years old. When I loosened the screw, the plastic "countersink" snapped off. I called to order a new battery cover. They are shipping a new one immediately for free. They are out of my color so I picked a different color cover.

This is why I don’t even look at the new players in the instant read thermometer market.  They are so easy to work with and always help.

Yes!  Within 30 seconds I had a live agent on the phone. This agent was able to walk back to the parts area after hearing my serial number and physically look at the parts I needed. After hanging up I had a confirmation email within 3 minutes and within a half hour from that I had a shipping confirmation on the part.

Getting through the basement and mounting the gfci on outside wall today.  Beyond that I will go 6/3 direct bury in 1” conduit to the tub but I think we need the tub first so I know how much wire to buy.

I asked my realtor to ask previous owner of my house where the power was to the hot tub that used to be here.....

It was supposedly this 20 Amp circuit...

I thought all hot tubs used larger power.
