Jan 6 Hearings

From Fareed Zakaria:
"As the US House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot has concluded its first run of public hearings, one thing has stood out: There’s no cross-partisan grandstanding, as House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) pulled all his appointees to the panel after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) rejected two of them. (Republican Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, who were not among McCarthy’s picks, have played leading roles.)
That has made these hearings much more effective than the usual fare, in which Republicans and Democrats ask “questions” of witnesses, revealing little besides their desires to posture. TV storytelling tactics have come to bear, too, as NPR’s David Folkenflik details.
But the study of Jan. 6 has occasioned another kind of analysis: how conspiracy theories (of which former President Donald Trump’s stolen-election claims is one) take root. New York Times columnist Thomas B. Edsall has detailed their workings; in his latest, Edsall surfaces academic studies that identify conspiracy theories as more appealing to political groups that have just lost an election, as “password(s)” for group entry, and as “ideological glues.” "Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Federal agents have seized the phone of John Eastman, a lawyer who advised former President Trump on key elements of the effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The seizure, which was included in a court filing by Eastman yesterday, is the latest evidence that the Justice Department is stepping up its criminal investigation into the various strands of Trump’s efforts to remain in power. Prosecutors are also investigating former Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark for charges that include conspiracy to obstruct the certification of the presidential election, a warrant issued by the Justice Department’s Office of Inspector General has indicated. Alan Feuer and Adam Goldman report for the New York Times.

How sweet that hearing was. I am totally impressed with how forthright and composed she was while likely feeling incredible pressure. And 25 years old. There's hope for us yet with citizens like her.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Yikes, this keeps getting better/worse depending on perspective. Republicans saw the Democrat riots and said, "hold my beer"
