OT - belated Valentine’s Day dinner.

We were busy Monday, and caliqueen didn’t want me to use a school night as an excuse for cutting any corners. 

Scallops with a vanilla saffron cream sauce, beet risotto, maple glazed carrots + parsnips. Plated shot could have been better, but the natives were getting restless. 

Turned out pretty good. Read about the vanilla cream sauce in one of my cookbooks, and that’s where this started. Never had a savory vanilla anything before. Very new, interesting flavor. 

Most  importantly, caliqueen enjoyed it,  and, it turns out that caliprince LOVES risotto :)
