Wow.  I missed the post where you headed north from Albuturkey straight to Durango, and now you’re in Santa Fe; you must’ve flown thru the Rockies!  ( at least you missed the snowstorms)
I got about two hours west of Albuquerque and discovered that there were no electric car chargers due north to Durango. Had to turn around and go back to Albuturkey. I 40 go shut due to a wreck so I had to stay at a Pueblo Indian casino. Currently at Pueblo. Whereever I am Monday noon, I turn around and go home . Tentatively Denver, Oklahoma, Dallas Houston, and I10 back home.

I got a huge crack in my Porsche windshield between Katy and Houston once.  The rock blasted out a small hole literally though the window.  I immediately looked for a glass repair guy and got it fixed.

This crack ran last night. No visible bullseye and a runner can’t be glued.

Stopped dead on the highway before the I 12 split. Nav programmed a detour but it is 2.5 miles away.

Baton Rouge traffic is the worst.  I plan all my trips through BR around avoiding rush hours and if there's a problem, it easily adds an hour to your travel time (or more)

Got to my own home state and they had the shoulder and right lane blocked on a I 10 bridge. Still not a fly spec on the construction hell is West Houston, North East Houston, East Denver, a complete over night shutdown of I 40 a hundred or so miles west of Albuquerque. Before Albuquerque Fed Ex double trailers clogged up the roads.

Yep, all kinds of crap on our roads down here.    I have 1 crack and 2 other chips in my windshield.    Too many contractors driving around with unsecured loads.    Last week I witnessed, in 2 different occasions, hammers fall out of trucks.    How the heck does that happen but moreover what would happen to you/your vehicle if that sucker kicked up and hit the window...

  • I have decided to make my first stop in Katy Texas. Any good breakfast spots there? I'll do a search for a hotel reservation a bit latter today . Will be aiming for San Antonio after that. I might go through Midland though it is a bit out of the way.
I've been following your conversation about your upcoming trip West, and it sounds very interesting and fun.  How much more energy will you use once you get into mountainous country in NM and CO?  Also what model VW do you buy as I have been researching them too.  Thanks and have a fun, safe trip.

Okay the trip is over. I bought a VW ID4 First Edition. Ordered it in September 2020 and received it the second week of April 2020. An 80% charge ranged from 218 miles in the flatlands to as low as 172 in the mountains. You can no longer buy the First Edition which is basically a loaded rear wheel drive, the closest available grade is the Pro S. Shipments of the all wheel drive version have just started to arrive. Availability is limited until the Tennessee plant comes on line.

Thirties was a little over 3000 miles. I will try again next year a little earlier and a more direct route.
