OT: Recreational Drone Recommendations

@JohnInCarolina @nolaegghead @alaskanassasin thanks for the tips, give been playning with it ( the Drone ) this afternoon , take off lamed right left forward back all with structure around ....ive kept the goggles off g or now as id rather see it...presise a Fvck , stops and turns on a dime and smooth throttle ....way easier than the simulator ....in normal mode it lets you know, even without the goggles on,  you are close to obstacles

I'm trying to figure out how she flew through a spewing volcano and didn't melt the drone.

Very similar footage hit the news several weeks ago, but I thought the pilot was a he, not a she.  The first pilot showed similar overhead video first, and then when the lava spit over the toy it went dark.  I don't know if they were the same incident or not.

Late to this thread.  DJI Mini 2.  I have been flying one since April.  While there are many YouTube channels, these two are my favorite.  Windswept Robert and Ian In London.

While the first cheap drone I had i destroyed in moments ...this thing is bad Ass...just let go of the control, it stops on a dime and hovers , pretty excited ( about the drone ) @alaskanassasin I will Don the goggles tomorrow , maybe even while flying the drone

Im not familiar with that particular dji so can't help much there.

You probably don't need them to fly it.  Mine doesn't.  The drone card records the high quality video.  The goggles card records the downloaded video feed, much lower quality. 

I would recommend putting cards in both and just leaving them in there so when you do find something interesting, like someone blowing bubbles, you can hit record.  Also the card may store some flight telemetry that might be useful in a forensic investigation of why you crashed.  (hope that doesn't happen).

MicroSD is cheap.  You just need cards minimally rated at UHS-I Speed Grade 3.  And that's really just for the drone.  The camera data data rate on high-res, high frames is insane.

I only have a card in the drone. I read somewhere that people who lost the drone were upset that they lost their footage so for that reason you have two cards.

I think we are missing the biggest opportunity to do a real caveman steak, drag steak with drone + fly drone through volcano = caveman steak.  Thickness and determined finish may determine if lingering above volcano to start is required for reverse sear.

@FarmingPhD my neighbor owns a dairy, he has been double cropping triticale and corn for feed. That was his seed field and they use the straw.  They tried to harvest yesterday but it looks like they couldn't get under it with the head of the combine and just went around the mess which is substantial.   I might ride over there and see if I could get under it with my smaller combine, I haven't walked it just snooping from above.
