@lkapigian that carrying case is awesome.  Last night I talked swmbo follow along on my iphone... first thing she did was start telling me where to go, and when it was all said and done she said "that was fun but I wouldn't want to do it as often as you are."

I think you'll be in Sport mode in no time, the move to manual with no safety options will be a bigger step. You've got me looking at these, dammit. Don't need one, don't need one, hello Amazon?

I'm taking this thing to Walnut Creek in a few weeks and let Carey AKA @nolaegghead have a go @ Manual mode, the 30-35  MPH in "Normal" is plenty fast enough for me

Probably a good thing you bought that insurance!

I’ll be out in Walnut Creek around the same time.  Would be great to see you and your new drone, although I’m hoping you’ll bring some of your fine meats as well ;)

Have you seen all the pieces and parts of things he’s broken strewn about his garage? I think he had to get a bigger garage to hold them all. Do the insurers know about this?

    I'd love to fly it.

It's really not a big deal flying them in stunt mode if you give yourself a big buffer (plenty of space around you).  No risk, really, if you keep it a couple hundred feet above ground.  It's when you're doing the equivalent of "tree skiing" or skirting and flying around objects where you need skill or luck, probably both.  I'm not going to do that.

I have never crashed a drone.  Sober, that is.  Have I crashed drones, planes, cars, boats?  Yeah.  You can't make an omelette without...

Can't wait, this will be fun.  I might bring a drone, my big drone is huge tho. I guess this will depend on if we check baggage or not.

Just remember, there needs to be enough of the drone wreckage recovered for a positive identification!

Half a propeller and a micro SD card probably gets you nada!

And here I am happy to finally get it up, the drone I mean.....

Who's to say she didn't go through half a dozen drones on that shoot?

In light of the cost of this type of expedition, a few thousand dollars of destroyed drones is still cheaper than one helicopter rental.

There is a micro sd card in the goggles as well as the drone so that when you fly into a spewing volcano you still have the footage.

Mine does that too except I get a highly compressed version of the video and lower resolution if I'm shooting 4k

@nolaegghead I never bothered to put one in the goggles, the one I bought at walmart the drone does not like, it pops up in my goggles that the SD Card is slow.  FYI @lkapigian if you haven't already bought a micro sd look at the recommended card speed.

Yup. 720p is what you get if you are syncing video to your phone via the DJI app.

@lkapigian it’s a lot easier to fly in person than that phone app.

Larry, that's fine.  One recommendation - don't shoot in 4k, it eats up your card and downloading/editing takes much longer.  1080p at 30fps is fine.  If you are hauling ass and want some slo-mo, shoot at 60fps.

Most of the time you just want to have fun or inspect a roof or your neighbor's sun deck.  (I kid!)

Most trouble people get in is not paying attention to what's around them and especially moving into objects that are off-camera.

Be extra careful backing up, going up or down or sliding side to side, anywhere you aren't looking.

    Learn from other people's mistakes!
