Anyone remeber the Steven Segal movie. Action flick based on an oil rig. At the end they had some drivel about 100mpg carburator and engines that ran on water. Said big oil was why we didn't have that technology. Some serious PSA at the end.
Lost a lot of respect for Steven that day.

Bruce Willis and Vin Diesel are an entirely different category.
I thing Steven Segal currently bookends the "Best 80s Action Star List", and it is not on the good side of the list.

last time i was due for a car, i talked the audi dealer into letting me try their electric SUV. the experience of driving an electric car is damned cool. but the price was absurd.
the economics must be improving if all these other brands are coming out with competitively priced electrics, right?I found this on Consumer Reports: "Jill Trotta, vice president of marketing and sales at RepairPal, says that by the time a vehicle reaches its fifth year—which is often when expensive items like tires wear out—EVs cost about $900 a year to repair and maintain, whereas comparable gasoline-powered cars cost about $1,200." -

Rolling resistance doesn't get you from point A to point B. It might get you more traction, but most EVs aren't Tesla Roadsters. How to do that? Probably more silicone in the compound, higher tire pressures, smaller contact patch, lower heat, etc. I can see those tires costing more for the size and what they are, but it was counter-intuitive to think they cost more over the life of the car.Good thing is there's plenty of road miles on EVs out there to mine the data (and train the machine learning AI). But I'm too lazy to dig it up.

I think the bottom line still holds: they are overall simply better products, and that’s a big reason why auto manufacturers are transitioning to them."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike -
And I will state again that I was one of the people who transitioned to an electric vehicle. My only car is a VW ID4 and my only lawnmower is an Ego electric vehicle. I don’t wear blinders though. Nothing is perfect and everything has trade offs.

I'm shopping for tires right now.
Sample size of 1: 2018 Tesla Model 3. 39,631 miles in 2 years, 5 months
edit to add: Dual Motor Long Range AWD.
OEM tires were 235/45R-18 MICHELIN PRIMACY MXM4
All four are in pretty bad shape. I probably should have replaced them about 1500 miles back. They've been rotated twice.
I'll most likely order from tire rack and have a local shop mount and balance. Looks like I'm going to pay between $175 to $250 per tire depending on what I go with.L, S, MM, Mini

Just out of curiosity....do you drive that with a lead foot or do you try to maximize your efficiency?
