Impromptu yakitori night, hence the lack of greens. 

‘maters. Shrimp glazed with a pepper and sweet soybean paste sauce. Miso butter onigiri. Ahi tuna glazed with a gochujang, honey, ginger sauce. 

The onigiri looks a bit jacked up,  because I repurposed jasmine rice made for something else. Finally busted out the GrillGrates, and I think I like them.

Prime Angus sirloin, salted and air dried over night
Seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic and minimaxed between five and six hundred degrees.

Served with tossed salad, baked potatoe.....

But regardless, nailing the finish is all that counts.  I would say "well done" that totally misses the mark. Rare for the win for me.

Deer shoulder is correct. Followed Hank Shaw’s recipe for venison barbacoa. Smoked for two hours, into the crockpot for 6 hours, and then shredded for tacos. Turned out really well. Better than I expected. Will do again.

A buddy loves almost all of his recipes. He recently bought me Hank’s waterfowl recipe book. Haven’t had a chance to try any of the recipes yet but used some of his cleaning techniques for saving wings, thighs, and breasting them out with the skin on. Freezer is starting to fill up…

Costco has a lot of things but those street tacos are one of our favorite regularly purchased items. That cilantro lime is sooo good! Making me hungry just seeing that picture & I’ve already had dinner.

Beer butt chicken on the roaster dealio my daughter gave me for Christmas. I actually remembered to take pictures this time. This is now my favorite way to do chicken. Rolled it around 375. Last time the bottom of the legs got a bit too dark. This time I realized the instructions in the cookbook said to transfer to a drip pan after 20 minutes. I don’t have the drip pan, so I used a cast iron. Seemed to do the trick.
