I have one of those, different brand and color, but they're made by a number of different Chinese companies.

Works fine for most species.  Live oak that's freshly cut - nope.  Too hard.  I spung a seal leak trying to split it.  If you let it dry out for a year or two it will split, but that kinda defeats the purpose of splitting it in the first place - to help it dry out.

How big of a log will it split?

@b@Bellavista52 max log length 20.5, says it will do up to 10" , not sure about that ----I don't think I would use it for splitting freshly fallen trees, but for by needs it seems like it will fit the bill fine

  • Thanks - I have a lot of fallen oaks from last year's tropical storm Eta that blew through upstate SC.  We lost more than 20 mature oaks. Was looking for a log splitter to help create firewood.

Had an electrician over to give me a price for installing my 240 volt car charger. $850 for app. 60 feet of wire, a sub panel, a box, conduit, and the appropriate screws and fasteners. To be done this coming Tuesday.

How long is your "want list" for tools now that you have 240 Volts running out to the garage? I just talked to my Dad yesterday about running 220 out into the garage. Endless options of new tools for you now...

You can run 3HP motors (and stronger), which is huge.  Table saw, air compressor, welders.  Opens up some doors.

This isn’t to my detached garage/storage shed behind the house. This is going to be mounted to the porch wall next to the closest of my two driveways. It is also a hardwired connection instead of a plug, more weather resistant and harder for someone to steal a fairly expensive charger unit. If I lived further away from the Gulf of Mexico, and it’s hurricanes, I might have ordered the type that could plug into a Nema outlet.

I have 240 V out in the lawn to power the most hosed up sewer setup I have ever come across or owned.  The house comes with the equivalent of a cistern system deep in the backyard (no mention at the walk-thru or closing-agent was clueless) that collects the house brown water and then uses the 240V juice and a high $$ grinder pump to chew and pump the crap (literally) to a common header and lift line to a sewage treatment plant.
BTW-just had to buy a pump last week.  It was a low four digits to the left of the decimal point.  I do have an outlet out there with 240 juice available so there's that!

My last house was below the sewer main under the street, so we had the same setup, a macerator pump at the bottom of a cistern with a toilet float that activated it.  It worked well most of the time, had to get the grease buildup cleaned out every few years.  I had to put in a new pump after maybe 14 years.
    Love you bro!

I need to replace my dead compressor. I was about to ask where you found that one but then I realized it was probably Harbor Freight.
Let us know how you like it.

Dude, are those your shorts/pants in the upper right hand corner?  Are you running the laser cutter bottomless now?

the lift pump scares me, bought the house in 1999 and dont even know where it is. will have to pop a cap in the main line in the house and send something down to measure how far back it is and hope theres no elbows. digging in the yard is with a hand pick so i know if i go looking, i am going to break something. popping that cap should be fun if its backed up. any bets it happens in february and i need a bonfire to thaw the ground

With an honourable mention to my good friends @nolaegghead and @Eoin SWMBO has a new ride.

She wanted a Mini - I said no (bold move, I know), she then wanted a Boxster but the one we tried had the world's heaviest clutch so I navigated her to an SLK.   There was a near miss with a 75,000 mile Carrera when she discovered the internet had cars for sale.

She liked the colour of this one and the rest was just noise.

It may be a 2007 but has genuine 25K miles with authenticated service history. Lazy 3 litre V6 on the 7 speed auto box.   With some delicate persuasion I can can confirm that revs above 5000 are achievable. Couldn't believe it runs on 16" wheels but the tall profile smoothes the ride.   It's way more comfortable than my X3 but not especially knee ligament friendly during disembarkation.

It now faces a gruelling 6K miles a year with SWMBO shuttling between shops and beauty establishments.   Except for the odd trip out with me for 'necessary safety protocols'.

Note the glorious British Summer skies above.   We know it's summer here when the interludes between rain are marginally warmer.

Anyone want to by a 9-3 vert with 41K miles on it? Being sold an idiot who replaced the roof, clutch, DMF, air con, tyres and serviced within the single year of ownership.
SWMBO has an '07 also. Thankfully it has a clutch, as that was required. We also tested a Boxster (and Mini, and 370Z, and...). It's easy getting into if you just sort of fall in, but getting back out takes some effort.
