I heard or read somewhere in the last couple of days that all Rivians have been recalled for a faulty bracket that could cause steering failure.
    Indeed:

    That's gonna sting a little.

I am impressed this startup is able to manage a recall.  I am pretty sure Tesla wouldn't be willing or able.  They just assume early adopters don't care about little problems like a torqued fastener.

Tesla has actually issued a fair number of recalls.

  • Tesla has recalled a quarter of all the cars they have ever sold. Mostly minor. Rivian is only 13k vehicles deep and it’s an easy fix so. I do think Rivian has a pretty bright future.

Last weekend, a F40 passed me going the opposite direction. Didn’t see it in time for a picture, but haven’t seen one of those in the wild for a long time.

Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. Blue Bugatti with black racing stripes. I’ve only seen 2 other Bugattis driving down the road before.

It appears to be untouched besides the tint. (Under the hood could be a different story) Not too many stock examples left in that generation. They bring in a pretty penny nowadays.

Saw a Landcruiser Prado today.  Haven't seen many of these.

Any idea what this thing is/does??

I do not, should have walked around to look closer at it.

That is a mirror.  Note that the vehicle is right-hand drive.

I want to say it was somewhat common with past Toyota's in Japan with the mirror's pushed forward.

I knew it was right hand drive and there are the stock mirrors on the driver and passenger doors. I thought maybe mirror but there was only the one. I lived in Japan for a few years (many moons ago) and pretty much all the cars had fender mirrors (in pairs) but I don't recall ever seeing one with just the one mirror.
But you're probably right that it's just a little mirror.

Awesome! I would park it next to the Back to the Future Toyota SR5 in my dream garage.

I only "knew" that from searching for others that had sold, then saw in the description it was a mirror.  Still remain curious as to the problem that it solves.  Thinking the right-hand drive is a clue.

if you have the time to "worm hole", read about how the power plant was brought to life. The information back then wasn't as available as it is now and the folks who purchased this car had no idea what a performance machine it was/could be.  The roots of the powerplant are specifically engineered to race, and those roots made it to the production line. Probably the last time this will be..

I remember being at the drag strip in the 2005-2007 time frame and people were putting down 1,000hp with these cars. It was insane.

  • Cool ride but man it seems they could have gotten a little bit more top speed out of it. 18mph is turtle-ish.

I agree but that would probably make it more expensive. It’s basically a golf cart with a sweet body kit.

  • I managed to miss the cost originally. For 10k that seems like a steal. Some of these golf carts probably cost more than 10k these days.

In highschool, I rode in one that was supposedly pushing 500hp.  It was insanely quick, and at the time I was used to motorcycles, so had an appreciation for quick acceleration.

It wouldn't be until about 15 years later I rode in a faster car, and that was a 750 rwhp 2002 Mustang SVT Cobra that had been heavily modified and tuned.  It was owned by an ex-Ford Engineer responsible for factory tuning, so it was very well done.

750hp not very well done is not for the faint of heart.

I will watch the first episode. Jaime Foxx is the creator so it has a chance to be good.

I've watched season 1 on discovery plus. The main guy is a little douche nozzle. But he's the kinda guy you love to hate and it's enjoyable watching the other two main players steal clients from him.
