For discussion: Do North Americans use the left lane correctly? When on past travels in Europe, the left lane is strictly for passing; no excuses (as it should be). Even had some experiences in Tuscany where a slow driver in the left lane paced the other three lanes to the right, paralyzingly the highway.

In North America, you so often see loafers in the left lane, with no distinction relative to the other lanes.

What say you? Am I off base?
You were just in Florida.  Drivers in that state are the best USA has to offer.  Florida is commonly called "The drivers state"
What I also found while driving extensively these past weeks is that engaging your signal invariably results in others trying to box you out - even when margins are wide, people speed up once they know your intent, however innocent and considerate. Off soapbox. 😉
That can happen.  If it's a problem activate the signal simultaneously with the physical turn.

Most drivers are a-holes, which I hope doesn't reflect on their out-of-the-car lives, but fear it probably does.

I know how to circumvent. Just funny that when you take measures to be courteous, others respond this way. Happens at home too, but seems this trip has been particularly bad.
Come to Boston. Blinker is for the last second, do not make eye contact.dont even think about turning your head. That's what out of state aholes do, it stops traffic
my favorite Masshole thing is the folks who don’t turn their blinker on until they’re halfway into the turn, sometimes on an off-ramp.
Sometimes in Boston it just makes more sense to drive the wrong way on one way roads.  Not that Ive ever done that

capital letters, wtf, is there a way to make them automatically go away on this cell phone. its freaking me out......

I am a big fan of the signals even at high speed.  However, that means you are letting others know your intentions.  That approach is definitely passe these days.
Recently at a light (red) with all vehicles stopped, the light turned green the SUV in front of me didn't move for enough time for two cars in the adjacent lane to advance thru the intersection.  I then laid on the horn.  The driver got out of her car and quote, "Can't you see I'm on the phone!"  F' me.
Horn, power no eye contact as mentioned by @fishlessman.  Learned that in Naples, Italy many years ago.
Boston roundabouts are a great place for a 1957 Buick-get in there and just run the laps.  Enough tonnage to do some serious damage.   B)

My kids get embarrassed, because I have two horn versions.  1. 2 quick beeps just saying hello, and then 2. 14 minute horn blast with screaming, yelling, fingers in the air, and all manner of gesticulation.

I don't do number 2 too much anymore.. 1 knife fight, 1 fist fight, and 3 guns getting pulled has made me rethink my approach.  Cops only got involved in 3 of those though.

Perhaps the other times the cops chose not to stop and fight with you after seeing your passionate approach to debate?
I have assumed it's only cops that you engage with in such a manner.

No sir, cops showed up for cleanup and documentation.  They did give me a solid scolding 2 of 3 times.  The fist fight legitimately had no escalating behaviors on my side.

@lousubcap - as a pedestrian there you had to just step out so they could see you and stop, drivers in that city only saw what was in front of them. That tunnel going out to the NATO base was just crazy; busses, motorbikes, cars just weaving thru all the lanes all the way thru. They even played chicken with the cable cars that had their own track to run on. Just nuts.

Great tour.  Next challenge is any one of a number of drives.
You definitely have an influential circle of friends.  Thanks for the pics.

My friend bought a vehicle at their prior location some years back, so we were able to get some personalized access. We were supposed to have lunch with the owner, but it ultimately fell through. Good fun for me; I just like to live vicariously.

Agree.  The aforementioned forum members were arguing in no way can a US President manipulate or otherwise change "world markets" particularly in relation to fuel.

"gross manipulations".  It's global supply and demand.  The embargo on Russian fuel from sanctions caused a gross manipulation.

I wish for your sake it was more complicated than that but your stance was that a US president could not influence the price of oil. No need to muddy the waters.  You guys took a stance that a US president could not effect world markets, and here is another example of how you are wrong.

That was not, in fact, my stance.  You may remember a rough calculation I did here which looked at what would happen if Biden did something to dramatically increase domestic oil production.  The result of that calculation was a reduction in price, it just wasn’t very large. I’ll let you ponder that for a bit.

I seem to recall you saying that we don’t  produce enough oil to change the price per barrel in a world market even if the president cut our production. Which is crazy. Because he just released a small amount from our reserves and it changed the price per barrel in the world market.  I don’t know where I am losing you.

We don’t produce enough to *significantly* change it.  That’s the detail you’re missing.  I think my calculation estimated a change in price around 10 cents a gallon.  That is not the same thing as saying the price can’t be changed at all.  Maybe this will jog your memory:
