The other advantage of three pedal cars is that they make for much cheaper rental options in Europe. Our recent inquiries found that manuals were almost half the price of automatics.lousubcap said:
The three pedal cars are a rapidly dying breed. On the plus side, if you own one you can park it unlocked with the key in it and today's thieves can't steal it. They can't drive it!alaskanassasin said:I think it depends on where you live. We had a 385hp awd bmw here in Ohio and it was kinda boring on farm roads. I will likely never own another sports car that has two pedals. Also boring.
Happy Friday!Recently drove a Gen Z staff member in my wife’s manual and they were entirely perplexed!
Best technique I was taught was by my police instructor, and that was to hold the accelerator to stabilise the engine before engaging the clutch. Makes all the difference.
We were taught to sequence; speed, position, gear, acceleration. Which meant brakes are for braking, so find the correct speed then change to the best gear, not going down through the box for engine braking.

I definitely could not have named that ride. @DoubleEgger - your frequent sightings are nice. High roller traffic routes.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. A prediction: But well found.
Car collecting will eventually loose it's luster. Just TRY to find parts in 40 or 50 years for a car which is controlled by modules which are NOW no longer available. Even today? Parts for some new cars are simply not available. Those problematic CVT transmissions are a case in point.
Collectors of (just a stab) PRE '75 or so cars have the advantage of minimal electronics and that you can get parts for most major systems.
Non-Running collections will be the norm, especially for cars roughtly post '75. I'll get right now, it is difficult to source parts for early EFI or Jetronic systems...which started as early as the 'late 60s.......Earlier ROCHESTER FI used in some chevy's was all mechanical.....Good luck with parts for THAT!
Just think of all the electronics involved in a modern car. I even suspect that stuff like the AWD and computers in my MAZDA will be unobtanium 20 years after end of production..... -

Okay, I normally don’t post “review” vids from the ‘net, but I haven’t heard of this thing before, and because the video is in HDR (hopefully your screen can show it) it’s pretty stunning to watch. It’s an MG Cyberster (terrible name), the next video in my feed (from a year ago) said it was 335 HP; that’s insane for such a small car (my Size 13.5 shoe wouldn’t fit in it), I’ll post it if it’s cool. Powered scissor doors is also something I’ve not seen before!

💶 50 Euro, performance like a Miata (which my feet don’t fit into either) but it looks like, for now, just marketed to China. I’m gonna be looking more into this tomorrow; dayam, what a pretty car!"There is a crack, a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in." - Leonard Cohen

B-I-L picked up a 2023 Camaro ZL1 1LE. Manual. Has crept up in value since production. He’s planning to mod it a little. I should (hopefully) get a turn behind the wheel before too long.
In the meantime, he is thinking of selling his GT3 (previously posted here, I think) to swap for a GT3RS. -
If I bought a new car? It wouldn't be new.....with only one possible exception.
I would love to own a Lexus LC500....What a ride.
But as for the rest? I'm also a fan of repairability. In one hundred years the number of running electronic cars
will be down to 1% or so. The rest? Either not running (museum showpiece) or modified and no longer stock.
That 1920's Roller 'Silver Ghost' will be fixable into the 22nd century....and outlast most of the rest
Repairability is the one issue I see little or no talk about. Greedy manufacturers are evil. Neighbor lady had a car with a top loader, element style OIL FILTER. Good idea to not make endless 'cans'.......But it was made of Aluminum and one over tighten? Galled Threads and a big repair bill, since the LAST oil change place was obviously responsible but would not fess up.... -
@GrateEggspectations- How many rides are currently in your B-I-L's garage these days?
BTW-Dildo brewing company has a nice ring to it...

Only two fun cars - the Camaro and the GT3. But more to come, I have no doubt. I think he aspires to become like a neighbour of his, as well as his F-I-L.lousubcap said:@GrateEggspectations- How many rides are currently in your B-I-L's garage these days?

Wondered if anyone would catch the shirt. Never been, nor had their beer, but I’m sure the marketing opportunities with a name like that are endless. -
