I don’t actually like the look of those all that much, but I also won’t be surprised if we see a bunch of them on the road over the next couple of years.

I’m not opposed to them. They are about 6000 pounds and quite expensive. The range on a charge isn’t much over 200 miles ( more in warm weather). But if you have spare bank and occasionally, or often, schlep around 5 people or more , there are worse choice's.

Purchasing a new Ferrari you actually want sounds incredibly difficult, if not downright impossible for us mere mortals!  (Btw nice spot and excellent job getting a photo!)

lol. I don’t know what it cost to wrap a truck but it would be fun to change it up every now and then
My car was about $6k for a full wrap.

Just PPF on front half (hood, fenders, bumper, mirrors, windshield) was $3500.
What’s maintenance like for it and does it need replaced at some point for wear?
PPF (paint protective film) is great.  No maintenance required. Replace between 5-10 years depending on condition.  Vinyl wraps are supposed to be replaced around 3 years or so.

For the $3500, I also had ceramic coat and full paint correction prior to install.
Was watching one of the car shows the other day they were applying PPF on a Lanbo or something and the film just made the color of the paint have a different sheen to it, not quite flat but something in between. Looked great and interesting watching them apply it to all the curves and angles. Doubt I will ever own anything that I would put it on but you never know.
They have some really neat products out. You can make the paint more glossy, neutral, or matte. I have a friend who applied the full matte finish on her grey AMG, and it completely transformed the look—I was impressed. Mine doesn't change the sheen because I only did it from the door forward, but it has saved me from many rock chips. Plus, being in the garage with kids be-bopping around, it protects the car from them accidentally rubbing against it.

I really like the windshield film I have on; it has saved me from many rock chips. I even had one hit so hard that it cut the film, but it didn't damage the window. Unfortunately, the dealership used a pressure washer on the windshield, which caused the film to lift in that area. I'm going in tomorrow to have a new film put on. The windshield film is quite consumable, and I plan to replace it every 1-2 years. It's $350 for the film, but I have a deductible on glass coverage, so if it saves two windshields, I'm ahead money ahead. Plus, I'd prefer not to break the factory seal on the windshield if I can avoid it.

mercedes dealer where i bought my used lexus had red and yellow matte finishes on new mercedes. black matte looks great, red and yellow just looks like sun damage. did not know there was windsheild films......no distortions?

Our first film was bad and took 3 tries to get it okay.  They switched to a new film that has very minor distortions if you look in certain areas, but minimal.  My wife is very sensitive and gets car sick with window issues, and this new film doesn’t bother her.

Im having trick PPF and windshield done next week.  New windshield is around $1500 and the film is $400.  It has saved my wife from at least 3 chips I am aware of.

I am just getting the hood, bumper and front fenders done.  Want to limit rock chips and when I am turning in tight spots and bushwhacking with the front.  That is $1900.  Full truck in a matte finish was $6000.  I didn’t want to drop that much, plus your sun damaged comment definitely gave me pause.  No need to look like a clapped out work truck.

wishing i got the ppf done on the back bumper. the lexus has a side swing gate in the back that gets chipped dragging things out, dogs jumping in and out etc. i started walking away from even looking at it with a small side swipe tear in the corner and some chips and then the dealer said he would put a new bumper on back and repaint it back to new. i can see the dogs scratching the new paint getting in and out of the pack, kicking myself that i didnt think of the back film during the barter stage. the atomic silver is a tough color to get right, goes from bright silver to a champagne color as you walk around it and the sunlight changes. actually goes light grey, then silver, then champagne, now it looks like salt and mud from the last storm =) the front, fenders, hood, door edges are all ppf and the shiny type.

their claws definitely scratch that section of paint on my 4runner. the first thing I said when I bought it was we should clear coat that some how but I never did.

We PPF’d the Porsche inner tailgate area where things drag across for just the reason.  No dogs in that, but a lot of suitcases in and out.
