A few pics from Mecum Indy, was early in the auction and my cell phone pics aren’t great but here goes.

Buying or selling?  Those are some gorgeous cars you picked out.

Way to take advantage of the window of opportunity.  Beautiful rides right there.

I understand that there is no rear view mirror over the dash, instead any looking back is accomplished via rear pointed cameras and a screen in the dash area.   Up here in the snowy and gritty north, my wife's back up camera in her Lexus becomes useless in the winter unless it is cleaned often (simply due to the slop on the roadways that we drive thru).  Wonder how the rear facing cameras hold up on these units in challenging climates?  Or are they simply a warm weather status symbol...?

It depends on what they are looking through. If it's the windshield or rear window, that needs to be kept clean. If it's mounted otherwise, the camera lens will need to be wiped occasionally. On my EV, that hasn't been a burden.

Based on a review I watched last night, these are fair weather status symbols.  Nothing special about the camera and it is subject to the same issues as every other backup camera out there.  Even in our climate, the sun causes havoc with these cameras.  It seems to always be washing them out and making them useless.

The only digital rear view camera I have liked is the GMC unit, and even that refresh rate bothered me a  lot.

KInda hard to open the driver's door with that tire there. Except for that, a definite improvement.

No sightings but this thread needs a jump start going into the weekend:
From Marshall Goldman-no affiliation here but thought some of you high rollers could reach one of the below.   B)

    1989 Ferrari Testarossa
THE bedroom poster car of the 80's, the Testarossa is a cultural icon.  This 1989 is in gorgeous condition and classically finished in Rosso Corsa over Crema with its original Alpine stereo, full books, tools and a super rare factory luggage set.  We just got this car back from its fresh engine-out belt service last week so it's good to go!  Only 6,438 miles from new, $199,900.

    2023 Rolls-Royce Cullinan
We've had a lot of Cullinans, but this 2023 definitely stands out among them!  It's finished in bright Salamanca Blue with an upper silver wrap with 24" GFG Forged wheels, a Grace White interior with Cobalto Blue accents, the big Cullinan package with bespoke audio and rear seat entertainment, signature keys, a shooting star headliner and more.  Only 2,745 miles from new, $397,900.

I spotted two Tesla trucks for the first time yesterday. I liked the look of them maybe because it was just so strange looking. Nothing else like it on the road.

I turned swmbo onto BMW about 10 years ago, we bought a 328i xdrive and she said that I spoiled her on cars, nothing else compares (in our budget range). Fast forward to today, she has been looking and saving for a while, and she is about ready to make a move on a replacement.
My only request is that it's something fun to drive. So most likely a BMW that is practical and fun to drive, which brings us to the M sport series BMWs, like a M340 not an M3.
There is a M340i xdrive in town so we took it for a spin, swmbo drove it around for a few miles and liked it, and this is where I learned a valuable lesson that I hope to pass onto fellow forum members who might find themselves in a similar situation.
She stopped to let me take a run at it... not being my car or familiar with the car itself, naturally I flogged the piss out of it, grinning like a kid at Christmas I ripped through a few intersections.  I think we were still okay at this point but I really wasn't "reading the room" if you will, Anyway we have been to this dealer before and I knew there was a few hundred yard stretch leading to a hotel near by that was perfect for... well its a mostly perfect drag strip, at this point I did notice swmbos hands on the dash and I thought maybe I had screwed up.
The following conversation went along the lines of "I don't like that car, I don't see why we need a M car, this is exactly how you ruined jet skis for me"

Few things in life exude as much class as a vintage Mercedes.

  • @Mark_B_Good

Beautiful photo all around. Mucho HP on that asphalt. Will you mod the Maserati heavily, as you’ve done with her sister?

That basketball net is inducing my anxiety…..
  • Not my photo, but the vanity plate tells me maybe it belongs to Mike Tyson.

    Another puzzling vanity plate.

@Mark_B_Good - stunning photo.  I now recall you were going down the MC-20 road.  What a ride.  Unique colour (nod).  Maximize it and take it to the Montreal GP.
