My grandmother used to make these, as did my mother. I still have the recipe card my father typed for her sometime around the second world war. I have been making these for years. Everyone loves them. It seems strange to me that no one else I know makes them - everyone seems to think I invented them, which most obviously is not the case.XL BGE in San Jose, CA. Also a Pit Barrel Cooker, a Cal Flame P4 gasser, and lots of toys including the first ever Flame Boss 300 in the wild. And a new Flame Boss 500.

Batch made 36 cookies of varying sizes. Taste tested one after they cooled. Crunchy top, soft underneath. Nice blend of spices.
This half of the batch is staying right here;
These are traveling tomorrow for family get together after Christmas dinner at our niece's home.
