OT Andrew Luck we hardly knew ye.OT

Andrew Luck retired from the NFL.
I knew about his injury. I knew it was serious. I just hope he gets into coaching of prospects like the Mannings have done. He has a lot to share.

Personally, for selfish reasons only, wish he was still in the league.

Colts owner is speaking now. "AL12 is leaving half a billion dollars on the table. He's walking away from that." Now that's crazy to think about

Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.

All I will add is "You know when it's when."
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Agreed. This was the smartest thing he could do. Luck already has more money than his great grandkids could spend. He retires before 30 and still is in one piece. After seeing the Colts O line this year, he probably knew he was a dead man walking. He knows he’s not going to win a Lombardi especially under that alcoholic loser Irsay. Take the money and run. The Barry Sanders move is the smartest one in the league these days.

Good for him, leaving under his terms, albeit hurt. Sucks for the Colts as Brissett is not QB1 material. They better hope someone like Keenum gets cut. Someone who can bridge the gap. Turns out Suck For Luck wasn’t a good long play. Now they’re talking him paying back 12 mill in signing bonuses........

I’ll offer the academic’s perspective on this as I know people who had Luck in class at Stanford.  He was by all accounts a great kid. Smart, humble, hard working, despite where he was headed.  He was raised right in other words, and I think this move is just more evidence of that.

Of course. I think it's a smart move on his part. The guy has been through hell the past 4 years. Recently married, starting a family.....all that....I would walk away too. Go enjoy your life AL

John, as an academic, you should probably know proper English.  Livestock and crops are raised.  Children are reared.  Try to remember that.  😁

Just watched a video showing Colts fans booing Luck when he left the field last night. Karma is a b!tch. Welcome to a decade of 3 win seasons.

Perhaps so.  I’ll contemplate that as I look at the tomatoes I’m raising to feed the children I’m rearing.

Yeah, dude gives it his all for 6-7 seasons and then he’s useless to em. Classy indeed. At least he didn’t hold out/sit out. They’ll be horrible unless they grab someone on a trade. I’m a Saints fan, they can have Bridgewater. They could probably get ole Eli out of NYC. Maybe Keenum. Brissett ain’t the answer there

The rearing vs raise use is a rule that’s about 50 years out of date.  Language evolves, which is why you’ll now find routine reference in newspaper articles on “raising children”, books on the subject, etc.  You may not be required to stay up to date on language use for your job, but as an academic, I am =)

  • Can you imagine Eli playing for Indy? He would play at a stadium that has a bronze statue of his brother in front of it.  Surreal.

If you’re into “slobbing down” proper English, then that’s great.😄

Let’s see what those slobs in charge of the Oxford Dictionary have to say, shall we?

Next you’ll tell me that the folks at Oxford aren’t the authorities on proper English, and also that in your world, the sky is orange.  Have a good day Fred, and do try to keep up.

Maybe for you, but I’m guessing everyone else actually finds it incredibly boring. I’ll let the discussion get back to Luck now.

Sorry for the hijack folks.  I try  to avoid engaging in battles of wits with unarmed men, but sometimes they really do insist.

I wish Andrew Luck all the best. Football is a violent sport that can really take a toll on ones mind and body. It takes a lot of courage to walk away in one's prime.

$500million doesn't do anyone any good when they are suffering from CTE, or debilitating pain.

Btw, I thoroughly enjoyed the raise/rear discussion.

Don't tell your problems to people.  80% of people don't care and 20% are glad you have them.
