Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the US.  Why are we not making it harder to get unhealthy food?
Because part of the duty of the government is to protect its citizens from others, not from themselves.

I've got zero problem with that. Like with alcohol unless you decide to enter the public domain afterwards and endanger anyone else. Well that and the fact that it smells like a skunk and stinks to "high" heaven.

Government over reach and lobbying dollars from Big Pharma and Big Booze would be my guess. We need more peer reviewed science dammit!

I’m guessing the vast majority of people on this forum would support legalization of marijuana.  I do think we’ll see it in our lifetimes.  Certainly things are trending that way.

When they legalized it in Nevada, it was under the guise that the revenue from the sales tax would go to education. It did not, instead it went to a "rainy day" fund.
Now the Clark County Teachers Union is getting ready to strike and the state government is putting 10% of the sales tax revenue toward education.

Oh I know, same with the lottery sales pitch. I was referring to the banking industry. It's all cash and carry now.

Weed has always been an outrageous amount in Nevada to be considered trafficking, something like 100 pounds. As of now a person can only be in possession of 2oz.
Although my evidence is anecdotal, from what I see everyday, the game has changed. Meth, heroin and fentanyl are the drugs of choice for distribution and trafficking.

I dunno man. We sure do have a ton of California folks coming here. This state is changing rapidly. They just legalized medical use to an extent in the last month or so I believe. I give it 5-10 years depending on election results before its completely legal. **Revision 10-15years.**
