Not sure where my post went but I'm debating getting this one. Its pretty cheap and I like my other lodge stuff. Plus I could take it camping.
I have this on my Christmas list.

If you have an adjustable rig, this fits perfectly. It also sits on the fire ring but I like raising it on the AR so I can flip burgers and move stuff around easily. Plus it runs really hot even up high on the AR.

I wouldn’t do pancakes or bacon with this setup (too hot) but it is a searing machine. I prefer a wok to any griddle for stir-fry cooks but we have had some hilarious (and delicious) Japanese Steakhouse cooks on the blackstone.

  • And for all you blackstone bacon folks, cook your bacon in the oven at 350 on a foil lined sheet. This is one of the best tricks I learned from owning a restaurant.

low and slow bacon is way better than griddled bacon.

Now it’s a party up in here
You’re probably correct...but I like scrapple as well. I start cooking the bacon till I get the grease then cook the scrapple alongside the bacon in the grease.

    its all good...

Thx - that’s a bonus.  I didn’t consider using it in the egg.

I'm a huge fan of the round Lodge "pizza pan" griddle so much I've got 2 of them. Personally I find them more versatile than the rectangle.  It's a simple effective design and doesn't have a reversible side with those useless "grill pan" ridges that just make grill marks and make it harder to clean.

That's awesome. What a great idea.

Sorta On-Topic comment, from 1,500 ft:

I've found it interesting to see how three items hit this forum as the "cat's meow", then fell out of favor with some folk.
KAB:  Still love mine, many do, but there seems to be more and more folk who have trouble with them, or fall apart, or...
Thermapen:  Still love mine (again), but a lot of folk have them fail on them, and have gone to/recommend less-expensive alternatives (this is capitalism at its finest).
Blackstone: Everyone was thrilled with these things, at first, too, but now it too is finding its natural level.  I don't have one, but I live alone and a single frypan can cover all requirements, for me.
    Just an observation.

  • The BS has been on my wish list but haven't pulled the trigger. The plan all along has been to wait until after Christmas and see if any really good deals pop up. It's just one of those things that if i don't score a huge discount on...i'm content to do without.

Blackstone for me gets food on the table faster than anything I have.

    It's a breakfast monster.

Now, I do hate the cleanup and I've had to strip mine down once and re-season.  However, it's much better than having the stank in your house and grease splatter.  If you look at that aspect, that's about a wash.

Now, the dog getting into the grease trap and spilling on the deck, that cannot happen in the house.  Haha.

This is just my experience.  I cook on it 5-7 times a week I'd say.  It's not for everyone, kinda like an Egg.

my damn dog steals my grease catch and I find it all over the yard.  I shouldn’t drink so much, then I’d remember to bring it in.

Also, hate clean up and use has dropped off.

I can see that the novelty can wear off. I've recently been trying to get bavk into sous vide because I had pretty much stopost using it.  It happens for sure.

  • I was tired of mine after one cook! I bought a 17" BS 2-3 years ago. I doubt I've used it a half a dozen times! I keep wanting to try a teppanyaki steak dinner, but haven't yet. And you don't need a BS for that anyway. Cheap enough at $69, but I should have spent it on food. Sure glad I didn't buy a 36!

As for @littlerascal56 's "4 pounds of bacon this week", I doubt I cook that much bacon in a YEAR!! =)
When your cooking breakfast for 20 people, 4# of bacon goes fast.  I do see some Blackstone 36 flattops on the local classifieds fir $200, so others have also seen the new wear off.
  • If there are more than 20, I use the XL, the Blackstone 36, and this’

Dang... That was terrible. The keyboard I am running (Gboard) acts strange at times. Then I don't proof read either. So that is that.

I’ve got a 15” Birmingham CI pan that suits me just fine.  There hasn’t been a single time that I wish I had the Blackstone back.
I considered getting a Blackstone but came to the same conclusion..  I ended up buying a camp chef two-burner stove and I use the cast iron skillets that I already had for most cooking.  I also found a steel griddle that fits on top of it, but is also removable, for the rare occasion that I need a large cooking surface.  I store griddle top in my garage and haul it out when I need it.   My total cost was much less than a Blackstone, plus what I have is  easier to take offsite for parties and such.

I found I just was not using it enough to justify the space it takes up. It is a great tool for larger cooks but I too found I was cooking blackstone type cooks inside using skillets and/or an electric griddle.  I gave mine to my nephew in college.  He is a junior and lives in an apartment with roomates.  He has been sending me pics of the food they are cooking and they seem to be enjoying it.  I am glad it is getting some use. It will be great for taiilgating next season.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

    These.

The CCs are nice units too. I like how the legs are adjustable.

They have a couple nice features. Legs being one, griddle itself levels in the other direction, each burner has an ignition and there is a built in wind screen on the bottom of the griddle. Fun units all of them (BS and CC). You have definitely gotten your moneys worth.

I have a friend that is a waffle house regional manager and has been on my for years to take a waffle house griddle off his hands for years. I would love to have that in an outdoor kitchen on our lanai, but I don't know that we'll even be here that long.  It can't run off of propane and would need to run a natural gas line out there.

    Would be fun though.
What is a Waffle house griddle? If it runs on natural gas, you should bd able to convert to propane. Change burner orifices, change gas regulator and adjust air mixers to get yellow out of flames

I haven't read the replies here so here's my less than candid reply. I got wrapped up in the hype two years ago and just had to have one. I bought a 17" and even sprung for the cover and the travel bag to boot (for some dumb reason...). First I bought 1 green bomb propane tank and then bought a 4 pack of bombs. To this very day I used up one tank and have never even used it once in 2018!

    Reason?
We live in a heavily wooded area adjacent to a 240 acre protected wildlife park, which is a haven for coons, coyotes, feral cats, possums let alone deer. The very first night I used the BS I left it outside which was a STUPID move! By seeing the greasy foot prints on my table and deck the next morning I realized a coon(s) and undoubtedly the cockroaches in the woods must have enjoyed the tasty grease. From then on I would let it cool down and remember to bring it in at night. Talk about a PITA!!!
  • Never got one. But after the New Year I ned to fix the current gasser or get something else and I'm thinking about getting one to replace it. Hopefully I've got a gas smoker coming for Christmas. But my luck is usually lousy so who knows what I'll end up with.
