Looks like this will strengthen all the way to landfall. NC guys don't sleep on this one. Tropical force winds will extend into the Triangle. Be safe guys

I wonder why the news crews don’t heed their own advice. Absolutely no reason for Jim Cantore to be broadcasting on site this morning. It’s a Cat 4 hurricane. We know there will be rain, wind, and subsequent damage.

It’s just a peeve of mine. If it’s so bad, why are they there?

Not sure who the local meteorologist is up there but we stopped watching weather channel after Hurricane Irma and their misdiagnoses on where it was going which ended up being about 10 miles from our home. Now we watch Tom Terry here in Orlando who called that one correct right from the start and seems to know his stuff. Also this video makes you wonder... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjuLWwuyotY :)

Of course it’s all about ratings and this is the Super Bowl for the Weather Channel but c’mon man!

Cantore loves a storm. This guy(#icyclone) Josh Morgerman is a friend and is the guy to watch for storm footage. He punched the eye of Haiyan in Singapore.

I watched the recon flights all night last night. I had a feeling this one would be historical. They are the true heroes in my book. Those guys got the crap beat out of them all night long and kept going back in. I think we are about to see why.

Newest recon data gives Michael very real chance at a cat5 landfall.

I agree.  Especially with the prevalence of web cams and the like these days.  There’s plenty of ways for them to obtain local video and rebroadcast it.

Several of the chase teams have bugged out to higher ground. There were two other teams close to him that made the same derision.

I left yesterday at 2:30am central time and traffic was normal. No delays. I was scared that if I waited to long I couldn’t get out. Condo management told us once the winds got to 35-40mph that they would shut the bridges down. Most stations was out of gas as of Monday and locals were driving from Panama City to Destin area to just get fuel. It was kinda surreal to see a normal beach area on Saturday and Sunday and like flipping a switch on Monday it turned into pure panic.

Panic is a useful emotion if it can be controlled and if it prompts you to get out of danger.

I'd be a bit more hesitant to criticize what people do with their leisure time if I was you.

So you're saying that listening to Morning Joe is more important than posting here? Damn man you sound like a KJ user.

Bettes and the other teams could not get out. On another note The Weather channel is a lot like cooking with RO. It might work out, but you are not quite sure what you are going to get. All jokes aside, Michael is coming in hard and fast. Lot's of folks are going to be hurt by this one.

I couldn't imagine watching any of those clowns early in the morning, or evenings either. Or weekends.

It’s funny, I can choose to ignore some programs by not tuning into those channels.  I can avoid some topics on this forum by not clicking on some threads.  But avoiding your commentary is a real challenge, it’s like trying to avoid the Chevy truck guy that keeps on popping up no matter what I’m watching - except I don’t have a mute button for you.  Maybe FB actually got the mute button right.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

Man this dude is packing a wallop. I had a long week last week and watched or read very little but it seems that this thing didn't get a lot of notice. (I know Legume missed me)

October hurricanes this strong are pretty rare. A category 4 is more common between August 15 and September 30th, at least in the Gulf.
