Today my bride and I celebrated our 52nd wedding anniversary! Could we have gone out and had a hellish expensive meal? ... Yes, BUT we had agreed long ago that old RRP could do it better for FAR less! Besides all that white linen talble clothes aren't as warm and friendly as our homestead! BTW I egged some sweet filets and inside I whipped up some bearnaise sauce . Then for the sala I made our favorite Caesars Salad.

@RRP- I know you are not looking for congratulary replies so I will attempt to go in a related direction.  The fact that you have such a long-lasting relationship speaks volumes for the candid communications over the years.  Any of us with a few decades into a marriage can attest to that.  So, you two have solved one of the great mysteries of your life-style and for that you should be (insert word here).
Great milestone.  I'm sure your family woofer enjoyed the scraps.

I guess we’ll have to wait until the next anniversary to hear about the pork belly burnt ends.   This is me not congratulating you, Ron!

Absolutely. In fact with your money you could easily buy everyone on the forum steak and lobster =)

Filets with béarnaise sound fantastic and very appropriate, and probably better than they'd have been done in a restaurant.  And congratulations!!!

Well...Job done... :) I agree with the fine dining, much better at home and the food is much better, plus you don't have to wait for service. Congratulations on a cook done...

Nice work, Ron.  If a great meal isn't what you are looking for, may I suggest a couple's night to go see Crazy Rich Asians?  After 52 years, your marriage can survive 121 minutes of CRA.

    I promise.

Congrats RRP. I just learned a few days ago that only 6% of marriages make it to 50 years. That my friend deserves a congratulations if you want it or not!

I hear you about with the white linen table cloths. One of the very few requests I had for our wedding was no white table cloths. We went with red and white checkered table cloths to go with the pig that was being smoked in the parking lot. We had several guests months and years later say how much fun they had and how everyone enjoyed the evening. Nothing worse than a over the top wedding that is stuffy and prim and proper. Yuck! Give me good food and family/friends. That's all what matters. Who cares about everything else.

Nope! Our SAMS is going through a major renovation and right now the meat dept has been temporily cut back while new refrigeration display cases are being installed. The only fish and seafood was a bin of salmon!
