Like healthcare, foreign policy is complicated.

Boy, it would sure be helpful if we only had something that might guide and inform us as to how effective US efforts at toppling governments over, I dunno, perhaps the last 60 years.

Well, it certainly didn't take long for Trump to discover what Clinton, Bush, & Obama learned: air strikes are an easy way to look tough without fixing anything.

The Russians will never stop and allow a pro Western Government in Syria, they need the naval base in the Med.  The Russians are key and need to be convinced that any solution is also in their interest, time for Trump to engage with Putin and find a solution that works for both of them. If it ends up that Assad going suits Putin, he will be gone in a flash.

Putin might not like what happened last night, but you can be sure it has got his attention.

Actually Clinton did achieve a level of success with the air strikes against Yugoslavia in 1999.  But that is certainly not the norm.

I'm pretty sure this strike had much more to do with domestic politics than anything else.  Reports are that we struck an abandoned airfield.  No planes hit, no CW taken out, zero casualties.

Hillary called for striking the airfield earlier in the day yesterday. Hard to call Trump an idiot for doing it when the Queen herself would have done the exact same thing.
