I know some parents legitimately can't pay.
Around here over half the students qualify for free/reduced lunch. The ones that actually pay usually have the financial means but the parents are sorry azzes and spend money on other stuff rather than giving their kids lunch money.
I get all of this, but what I don't get is how an administrator looks at parents who don't care enough about their kids to pay for their lunch, and thinks "well surely shaming the kids will do the trick!"

Probably not.  All you're doing is effing up the kids, and perpetuating the cycle.
That is the Democrat way.  Keep the impoverished cycle going.  If you help them get a head you will lose your voting base.
That's like the old joke about the tent revival set up in the Walmart parking lot. A guy on crutches is hobbling through the parking lot on his way into the store and passes near the tent. The "preacher" says "come over here Brother, I can heal you." The guy on crutches speeds up and yells back over his shoulder "LEAVE ME ALONE, I AM ON WORKMAN'S COMP!!" The Democrat politician's motto, keep 'em hobbling.

Lack of funds isn't the problem here.   Lack of parenting and accoutability in The. school system.    And Michelle O's alleged anti obesity program gave kids nasty chow that no one wants to eat.  That's a heck of a way to get people to lose weight.

This United Airlines story is pretty nuts:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/dr-gridlock/wp/2017/04/10/a-man-wouldnt-leave-an-overbooked-united-flight-so-he-was-dragged-off-battered-and-limp/?utm_term=.9ec4388e452d&wpisrc=nl_most&wpmm=1

I've heard of them not giving people seats on flights that are overbooked before, I've even had it happen to me.  But asking people to get off the plane who are already on and have a seat?  Nuts.  To make it worse, this was to accommodate four of their own employees.

Don't they have travel vouchers at United.    If $300 doesn't work, I'm sure there are people there that would be happy to take a later flight once you sweetened the offer a little more.   This is a PR nightmare

The second video of him after he got back on the plane repeatedly saying "I have to get home" is gut-wrenching. Poor fellow. I hope he turns out ok.

I have never been been bumped but have seen it happen to others a few times over the years, I always thought the process was an ever increasing pile of incentives to find folks to voluntarily give up a seat. Never heard of cops assaulting and dragging someone off a plane.

I'm guessing United is now wishing they had offered a few first class passes to find volunteers.

True but we're also not on her mandating what you can and can't cook every weekend. Just like the stupid Fed govt and high browned limbs to tell you how to live while living totally different themselves.   You want to solve the VA?  Mandate that Congress and their families get medical treatment thru the VA, and it will get on the road to being fixed very fast.  It also reminds me of Al Gore, Leo DiCaprio, etc talking about global warming as they travel the world in their private jets.

Not surprising in this era of airline cattle-car operations I guess but I'm sure there were a few opportunities to solve this before people boarded the plane.  Common sense has definitely been replaced by whatever procedure someone was following to the letter in this case.

The video is hilarious. I keep watching it, and every time I watch it, I laugh even harder. How many more of these videos have to surface before people that lack common sense realize that when the police tell you to do something, you do it or pay dearly. If they're in the wrong, you can sue them after the fact. But to resist their orders is pure stupidity.

I'd type more but I have to watch the video again with the volume all the way up. It's just so funny.

He should have complied, the pilot is in charge.

We do not know the guy is a Physician, and it really makes no difference, they were all paying passengers, and each one of them had a good reason for traveling..

    It was a compliance issue.

I wouldn't be happy either but to plant yourself in the seat and make them forcibly remove you, as a grown man, is idiocy.

And I haven't flown since 2002. I am allergic to a common ingredient in almost all shampoos and tooth pastes, I have to buy mine at health food stores and there is no guarantee that I could find replacements at the final stop. As to the guy, first come first served. If it was vitally important to transfer the airline personnel they should a)  have sold only the correct number of tickets b) boarded the airline personnel first. Still just like cops, if they are in the wrong comply with their directives and then sic the lawyers on them.
