@yukonron it's kind of a love/hate thing

Here are my reasons for my love/ hate relationship with him:

1- his **** bourbon slushie recipe

2- his **** bourbon slushie recipe

I was never really a fan of bourbon but as of late I have been acquiring a taste for it. Maybe it a more refined palette in my old age. I never liked it at all when I was younger. I Tried a couple basics and didn't mind them.  Got to like the JB Honey. Then I saw the JB Apple.  (I love anything apple flavour).

I followed his recipe recipe last week and filled 9x 500 ml mason jars and took them to a Christmas party. The host couple had 1 each, the other couple tasted it but it was too sweet for one and the other was drinking wine. I drank the remaining 7.
Pits 1 week since that event and I have been craving them all week. It's been busy so I haven't had the chance to remake and have on hand. Until tonight.

Tonight I made the recipe with a bottle of the JB Apple. Holy Christ. I'm in heaven. I cannot wait to play with more flavours and be sitting on the deck with some BBQ chugging away, music and friends and sipping on these bad boys.

@yukonRon I officially love/hate you.

    I nearly spit up my drink when I read that! Classic!!! :smiley::smiley:

    I never cared for bourbon and don't need another vice, but I may have to give these a shot.  Any suggestions for a good starter bourbon for a wine drinker?

    Yes I enjoy them as well.

    I refer to them as homemade date rape slushies. After my first run on these things I woke up dazed and everything was basically a blur. Thank god it was just my wife and I.

    @HofstraJet I Used Evan Williams. That's what was recommended in the post. It was also stated there is not a need for a high end bourbon with all the other flavours going on in the mix.

    @theyolksonyou my wife was kind and did not violate me physically but as gone as I was I would have probably not objected to it! Lol

    Thank you, I think?
    This is the funniest thing I have read in a long time.
    Although the recipe was posted by me, I must give the credit where credit is due; This is a recipe, obtained by My Beautiful Wife, at church.
    Party responsibly, and have loads of fun.

    I've got my first ever batch getting frozen up right now. I likely will soon not remember how I cooked this brisket I have smoking.

    You will drink them, because they sneak up on you. Then you have a MENSA moment when you reach for the "oh shid! bar" then realize you can't reach it lying face down on the floor.

     Basil Hayden is an excellent "beginner" high-end bourbon. Breckenridge is great to. I like my bourbon on the rocks or neat

     Any decent one in Ron's church group's recipe will aclimate you without difficulty.  For straight +1 on the Basil Hayden.  Also Woodford Reserve.

    yep, at Butt Blast many met my friend and "bodyguard" Delton.  6'3", 300 lbs, did 5 years in the state pen. He's no light weight by any measure.  Bourbon Slushies put Delton literally on the ground.  Found his hat in the leaves where he fell.  He was helped up by late night BB'ers.

    Basil Hayden has become my favorite. It's a little lower proof, but to me is very smooth.
    Does any one have a better choice for rye whiskey?
