So my jack russell got attacked by a coyote. Bit on back of neck and shook pretty good before I managed to get over and chase it away. She is fine, pissed off and still looking for the 'yote, but this led me to look for better lighting in my back yard.
I found some 100 watt leds on ebay and went to town. They are blind you dazzling bright!
Porch light ...
700 lumen flashlight ...
And a single 100 watt led light with about $20 in parts, a DC boosters and cpu cooling fan...

does ligthing work on coyottes, the ones here double back on you and dont chase off easily, i carry a leaded club at night when im out with the dog. coyotes here are big, 40/50 pounders with some around 70, mixed with canadian red wolf. i had a 120 pound german shepard take a beating once from a pack, a good 6 months healing
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
What about a motion sensor with a really loud alarm?

In my town, I'm allowed to arrow them in my yard year round. I can also trap them.

Nice to hear the pooch is fine, could have turned out very differently. Sounds like you are onto something by not being the easiest target, the lights will help to move them along. Great looking lights.
When raccoons tipped over our garbage cans, the motion sensor light worked about twice, then it seemed to only better illuminate the buffet table. The addition of a sprinkler with the light solved the problem. Evidently they do not like to get a shower when dining.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad! -

The ranchers I used to hunt with in Montana would put balls of steel wool inside raw hamburger meat for Coyotes to eat. Can't say it worked out well for the Coyotes.

I don't think a light is going to keep a coyote away from a small dog. They are super aggressive.
I had neighbor lose a small teacup sized terrier to a hawk when I lived in SC. That was crazy. -
Dang.....that sucks (the attack). Hope the pooch is ok.....good luck getting that coyote. You should be able to out smart him....from what I learned when i was younger watching cartoons....that coyote ain't real smart.Ellijay GA with a Medium & MiniMax

Run me out in the cold rain and snow -
I have heard you can drill holes in golf balls and soak them in bacon grease. They inhale them and can't pass them.
