Smash burgers... OMG

first time. Pics don't do it justice. I didn't have anything to smash really skinny so I used my burger stuffer to flatten them and then when I threw on the CI I took my spatula and smashed.
Best burger I've ever eaten. Double on each bun.
60 seconds each side.

Pre smashed my burgers as much as I could with my burger stuffer. Threw on some butter on the CI. Kept lid open the whole time.
throw down, top with BGE garlic pepper seasoning (a lot). Kept 60 seconds flipped. Topped with cheese and let go for another 60 seconds. Pulled them in and covered in foil for 5 min while I lightly buttered and toasted my buns . Mayo and ketchup on the burgers.
Seriously amazing... Think 5 guys burgers on steroids.

Smash is the only way to go. I prefer it over a decent steak.

@bhedges1987 Holy crap bro! Those look amaze-balls. I bought a Lodge cast iron griddle for my egg a couple weeks ago and have only had a change to use it once. Hopefully tonight will be number two when I do this.
One quick question, in your first post you said you used your spatch to smash but don't see that in your response to jcl5150. Just looking for clarification. Thanks.Large and Small BGECentral, IL -
I use my 8" CI skillet to smash. Works very well.

I'm guessing you have to use a CI skillet for the smashburgers? I have the CI grates, but it looks like keeping the grease and fat in the skillet probably helps!Milton, GA

amazing . . smash burgers are the only kind we make. I see you put some butter in the pan & used 90-10. Recently, I have switched over to NO FAT in the pan and higher fat in beef. Maybe something to try next time & report back?
I got the idea from this article: http://www.seriouseats.com/2014/03/the-food-lab-maximize-flavor-by-ultra-smashin.html . . . I still want to try to make their "melty cheese slices" but havent got around to it yet. Nice cook!

I just bought this from Amazon, I think it will be great for smash burgers on the Egg. http://www.amazon.com/Lodge-Pro-Logic-P14P3-Pizza-14-inch/dp/B0000E2V3X?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00War Damn Eagle!

It's probably a bit too large for the MiniMax without trimming but would fit perfectly on a Medium BGE.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -
I changed my Amazon order to the Lodge pizza cast iron, I think that would work better for the Egg. Updated the link in my post as well.War Damn Eagle!

I made smash burgers today. They are outstanding to say the least. I need to get something smash them, as my spatula doesn't work very well and I bent it pretty bad. I also would like to find a cast iron griddle, because my skillet is too small for more than a couple burgers.
These might become my favorite way to have burgers once i get the kinks out of making them.
