Damn good lookin burger!

There was an article in the WSJ this week promoting the skillet vs grilled burgers. One chefs comment stated he puts an ice cube into the middle of the patty. Interesting. Has anyone here tied that? It's like a cross between a hurricane and a ship that's run aground

Wish that I had that article or maybe I missed it in the weekend edition (even that comes 2 days late around here). Never heard of such a thing. Love the WSJ (just can't afford it).I googled a link to the same article online
Edit: I try to access the link directly I am prompted to sign in - however the link from google seems to let me see the entire article. If the link doesnt work try and google it.

Looks good. Thanks for sharing.
I think I'll smash the next time I make burgers! I have the perfect little cast iron griddle for the job.

what's the benefit of smashing the burgers?
-
It crustifies the meat. Very good but I'm not sure there burgers would pick up much smoke flavor

Whoever invented this is an iconic genius within the burger world because it is just the perfect way to cook a burger if you just want a real burger. Of course, there is a better burger out there, but this one is just basic as it can be at its perfection. I just got a blackstone and can't wait to try it.

I also would like to find a cast iron griddle, because my skillet is too small for more than a couple burgers.
These might become my favorite way to have burgers once i get the kinks out of making them. -
These were beyond killer!!
For what its worth i cooked them with the grid lower and dome temp 400.
Wife picked up the skittle at tjmax for $16. Best burger i've ever made. Thanks to the OP.
