You know your wife better than us. My wife is pretty practical so she wouldn't care so much about the actual date as long as we did something to celebrate. I would try to take her on a trip the weekend before if possible.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Speaking strictly as an engineer, it's not the $40 you're going to lose, it's all the saved money (several hotel nights, two airfares, etc) that you're losing. Just thought I'd point that out.

Nobody on here is going to know your wife better than you. My wife would encourage me to go as I would her if roles are reversed. We don't have kids so we take lots of of opportunities during the course of the year to do things together. We would most definitely celebrate early or just after and I would probably line up a massage or something for her when I'm gone. It's just a day or few days in a year after all. What you do the other 360-plus days a year should be the most important.

9 years ago I went on a salmon fishing trip with buddies for the weekend. When I got home the wife surprised me with a happy anniversary new rod n reel. I hate that rod n reel 9 years later.

In 3 years, just after smoking a turkey leg for one at Thanksgiving, followed by a ham steak for one at Christmas, you will look back and remember how your divorce attorney "only" took two thousand dollars to give away 2/3 of everything you own and sets you up with a nice payment plan for her, the rest of your life.
Yeah, good times ahead on that $40.00 trip with the guys.
Trust me, SHE will handle it well.

5 Deadly Terms Used By a Woman:
1) “Fine” – This is the word women use to end an argument when she knows she is right and you need to shut up.
2) “Nothing” – means “Something” and you need to be worried.
3) “Go Ahead” – this is a dare, not permission, don't do it.
4) “Whatever” – A women's way of saying screw you.
5) “That's Ok” – She is thinking long and hard on how and when you will pay for your mistake.
Bonus Word: “Wow!” – This is not a compliment; she's amazed that one person could be so stupid. -
