I will certainly be the one to tell anyone, UK is not the historic model of how a college program should be run. But I can say this, John Calipari, or "ass hat" as he was referred to, has never been implicated by the NCAA or any other rules governing body in any wrong doing, whatsoever. In fact the NCAA was explicit in their findings of his non involvement for the infractions which occurred, without his knowledge, under his regimes at both UMass and Memphis.
The only people that try to create ill will for "ass hat," are the petty, insolent and envious sports writers that need to get attention by writing articles to gain readership. Sports writers are seldom from the pool of wisdom, they are lower tier entertainment producers which create readable stories that will bring them hits. They make their living off of others efforts in accomplishments or failures, and without having to be concerned of the validity of what they write. Not that there is anything wrong with that. The article you referenced, an older piece, is such an example.
For every bitter article written, there are numerous positive articles about "ass hat" that commend him for his actions in basketball and out of basketball. Those don't get a lot of attention from the envious. After all is said and done, He is, in the Hall of Fame, while still coaching. It was unanimous vote. Not too many other coaches have made it.
Anyway, how is your team doing this year? I wish them well in the tournament.

The previous two ADs at Kentucky were former basketball players at UK. They were part of the culture that was a win at any cost. When UK hired the present AD, they went outside the SEC to get him. So far, I will begrudgingly offer up he has done a very good job at keeping the programs clean and trying to raise the level and facilities of all the other sports. I am not his biggest fan.
