Wait, I thought when I used the words "I identify as", that it meant everybody had to validate whatever nutty ideas I had!

  • “Hey, I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down. And I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering. So something’s going on. We’ve got to find out what it is.” - Donald Trump, today.

What the hell is he talking about in Jersey City?

We may as well have all the Kardashian sisters running vs the cast of Real Housewives.

Edit: maybe the cast of Duck Dynasty would be better.

    @JohnInCarolina ... you could have left off the last half of that statement;
"What the hell is he talking about ..." would have worked just as well.

You've got to love the Donald.  He's driving the democrats crazy ... guy talks so much and so fast ... and nothing seems to stick.  It's like he took lessons from Slick Willy, only he upped it to graduate level word slinging.  The fact checkers don't have a chance to nail him down before he's off in a new direction.

He's almost a Saturday Night Live parody of a politician.  And, like all good parodies, there's a thread of truth to what he talks about.  And, most times it's so non-PC you are watching for the incoming ... but, it does seem to stop him.  He has, single-handedly, made the election season bearable.

I guess that's better than splitting your manhood like a banana split & stuffing it inside the cavity and changing your name to @CaitlynInCarolina
It simply doesn't have the same ring to it.

But, it's interesting isn't it?  Makes the time go by until we have to get serious about electing someone to clean up the last eight years.

He has been something to behold this election season, but I think he's giving establishment Republicans a lot more fits than he's dealing to Democrats.  Trump is practically trolling them in every debate.
Yes, but I also think he's giving them some covering fire.  Like a good magician, he's got the media looking the wrong way.  Except for Carson, the media (democratic super pac) hasn't really been able to focus on anyone else in the publican party.  Yes/no?

I think Jeb! would beg to differ.  He has also forced GOP candidates to comment on things they'd probably rather not, such as whether or not a national registry for Muslims is a good idea.

  • For example, after Eric Cantor endorsed Jeb, Trump tweeted this:

That is magical, just not in the way you were suggesting.

Reality TV. This election is like watching Jersey Shore. The worst we have to offer captivates and fascinates people. People that vote for Trump or Clinton should not be allowed to drive a car, or ever vote again.

Okay, I'll give you that Jeb is having trouble with the Donald ... but, Jeb would have trouble even without the Donald around.  He is a very intelligent man with many reasonable and acceptable ideas for solving our problems, but he can't sell them ... he's not a natural leader.  He's like a technical person with a pocket protector ... you go to him for help, but not for leadership.

Any individual who is running for president and doesn't stand up to proclaim loudly and vigorously, that a national registry for any religious group is a bad idea, doesn't deserve to be considered.  Hell, the democrats won't even let us register voters with an identification card, how does anyone think a religious registry will work ... well, maybe a christian registry ... but, no other religion.

Voter registration IDs are presumably to protect against voter fraud. I'm not sure where this is an actual problem

now, gerrymandering, limiting the number of voting machines, limiting hours, etc has been a problem. Polls closing with people in line. People being turned away

funny thing, this tends to happen in areas where non-white people tend to vote democratic

    kinda weird

and in the states where there seem to be a lot of white republicans that are upset  about not requiring voting IDs

i think there ought to be an IQ test straight across the board. If we made it 100 (average intelligence). we'd lose a half of the voters.

I would take the bet frankly

Anyone who is against National IDs is either a Democrat, believes the rhetoric that it's going to be a form of Jim Crowe or lives under a rock.

Nothing to see here just California issuing out state drivers licenses and allowing them to vote.

Or get this dude almost voted 20 times, yeah it's a felony but whatever.

A winning candidate "has to be much more uplifting, much more positive, much more willing to be practical," than recent Republican presidential nominees, he said. The candidate should also be willing "[To] lose the primary to win the general, without violating your principles," Bush said.

WTF? Who would vote for this clown who blatantly said he's not going to represent the base? He's going to be tied to the purse strings of his donors just like Rubio. All we are going to get is the same nonsense we had with Boherner and the rest of the Republicans in Congress who were voted into a majority to oppose Obama but gave him a rubber stamp. They have both the Senate and the House and continue to increase govt and spending. If I wanted Republicans to follow the Democrat agenda I would have voted for one. I'd rather gamble with a Trump or Carson then get more of the same.

I'm just waiting for the Sunday talking head shows and the handwringing about this whole topic.  Last week was pretty much focused on the aftermath of the Paris attacks.  I'm expecting a shift toward the refugee issue.  I don't think I will be disappointed.  Lots of insights to be gained, for sure  ;)
And the thread is still treading water...

We had dinner Friday night with a visitor from Munich.  He said they've been taking in about 2k refugees a week there - tent cities set up everywhere.  He and his wife had both worked as volunteers in the camp.  Quite a different perspective from over here.

@JohnInCarolina - at least the real deal about the ease of access via visas (as you pointed out) got some run time.  Of course, lots of handwringing and comments about the bluster from Trump and Carson.  Short news week on the horizon (thanks to those friggin Pilgrims and the way they treated the Indians  ;) ) but no lack of arm-chair experts.
