I think a private section of the forum where we could all make fun of @cazzy would be pretty awesome actually.  Of course it will never happen.

I believe in other forums you can only see so much without logging in as a member. That's all I was referring to. I believe BBQ Brethren is like this but, I could be mistaken. I've never once heard a dealer here mention the forum to a perspective buyer.  I see it as more as a hangout for eggheads and a good place to share info whether it be recipes or dirty forks.

This is my favorite forum/social media. Hopefully I'm not coming off like an Ahole. And if I am that's par for the course on my Wednesday afternoon. But, it wasn't my intention if that counts for anything.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

@blind99 Oh contraire mon frere I'm not a member (that I know of) on that site any longer. Only went on there a few times mainly because I didn't like the navigation and all my crazy egghead friends are here.

I always mentioned this site to prospective Egg buyers.  Free advertising and some people are more likely to believe people that own a product over a salesperson even though I'm an owner and an eggdicted griller.

See - that's why this is the place to be, like Sienfeld, a forum about nothing, in this case wether or not non-members should be limited to nothing. We "talk" about cooking, beer, politics, wine, lump, whiskey, sous vide, home brew - Wait, maybe it's not a cooking forum at all. @NPHuskerFL slow Wednesday I see - great post!

@johnkitchens if you really want to find some lurker, check out who is liking and agreeing with comments. Names you never see comment. Therefore, they have a handle, but still lurk.

I joined up totally expecting to lurk, but dammit, you guys drew me out and now I can't shut up!  I'm really not a social animal. After all, I'm an engineer.

If I was a dealer I would recommend this forum to people on the fence. I think all of the offerings here would help convert them over to buyers.

Right there you have the plot for a TV series, kinda like Stalker, only for the eating and drinking and smelling like smoke set. .

I'm all in with making it as open-access for lurkers/wannabe's etc.  Not everyone is ready to dive into the deep end right away.  I found the "original site" well before I bought a BGE and that helped drive my decision.  And I don't believe corporate would ever endorse limitations.  Just an opinion...
Totally agree with the capt !!!   If I wasn't able to read some to how the group was I never would have signed up.  Way too many uptight Internet groups out there already.

I, for one, do not see the harm in folks lurking about.  I search many, many forums for ideas in general and probably actually join less than .01 percent (1 in ten-thousand).
