Just my two cents, but I can probably guess where they learned this.

My wife was scared to death of snakes her whole life.  Scared to the point that if one was on tv, she would turn it off or walk out.  When she was pregnant with our first she realized her mom was the same way and that she learned that from watching her mom.  She decided to gut it out from that point forward so she didn't pass that on to our kids.  She still hates them and sometimes looks away from the tv, but the kids all grew up ok with snakes, on tv at least.

I say ask your wife to not reject crust in front of them and take those crusts and make something great with them and eat them in front of the kids.  Maybe put peanut butter and Nutella on them to make it a treat they can't refuse, but you eat it and make a big damn deal about it. You can back that off later once they stop seeing crust as a problem.

Woah, there.  Cool your jets.  I think cutting off crust is the safer solution.  Not everything needs a solution.  Sleeping with both eyes closed is its own reward.

@Legume your wife would hate AZ.  In highschool some friends put a live rattlesnake in my truck as a joke.  I got even.

We lived east of SD for 5 years, arid, and Austin for 17.  We had our share of snakes, including a rattlesnake nest I uncovered 6ft from the house when I ripped out a hill of ivy.  She freaks when she sees them in person, but she just runs away and screams.  Seems to be ok knowing they're around as long as she doesn't have to see them.

That reminds me of a friend in Utah.  We were all walking (wives, husbands, kids, etc.). There was a little garter snake that slithered across the path.  My friend let out a blood curdling scream and turned and ran.  She took 3 steps into the road and there was a dead snake.  She proceeded to scream louder changed directions and absolutely high tailed it.  We were all dying of laughter.

Yeah, got ahead of myself there.  I've known a lot of kids (and several adults) that are really picky eaters and I just see it getting passed down.

My wife is super picky.  She just really doesn't like food.  If she could live on ranch she would.

I love trying new things.  Fortunately, my kids take after me.  Although my daughter does put ranch on spaghetti which I find off-putting.

I never knew to not like a crust but I remember a few kids at lunch without it.  I do remember hearing "there are starving kids all over the world, your father and I work very hard to provide for you, put a roof over your head and dinner on the table and your going to finish it!"

My 6 year old dredges her pasta (doesn’t matter what type/kind/sauce) in ketchup. Has for years. Refuses to not eat it that way. My pantry always has ketchup

Is it a structured questionnaire or just an email directly from the boss's boss without any guidance?

A lot of 360's are sent by the person being evaluated and results are tabulated and blinded.   Honest is always best, but written (vs scored feedback) should have a constructive spin.  I've known horrible bosses that have taken direct quotes from feedback and provided that to the person being reviewed which is cowardly and inappropriate and it blows things up.  She should get a feel for how this feedback will be used, unless it's all positive.

The fiber optic company directionally bored right through the sewer line. The city will have to take down and move my mailbox and it’s 15 year old Confederate Jasmine that surrounds it. Green writing means sanitary sewer.
