"Loves" her scarves?? That look has more of a "why do you do this to me?" vibe.

I was getting something out of the fridge and it was almost time for her to eat.  That's sad, hungry face.
    Love you bro!

Just got home from a 3 day trip to Washington to duck hunt and visit with a friend of mine.
We tried to target Redheads and Canvasbacks but they wouldn’t play. Instead I got a very very nice / mature wigeon. Not quite a full “storm wigeon” but definitely approaching that status. He used to guide and said only get birds of this maturity at a rate of about 1:200
….. already been in touch with my taxidermist.
also finagled 150 lbs worth of elk meat home from the cow I shot on his ranch this September…. Gonna have to figure out a better way this coming season.

DuckDog and girlfriend’s chihuahua happy to see me. Chihuahua has to share a smoothie with me every morning, so I obliged him after other “activities” since I had been gone a few days.

That is a stud wigeon! Congratulations, I’m sure that was a fun trip! That is definitely a bird to be proud of. Any thoughts on how you’re getting it mounted?

Where'd you shoot the ross? I'm in MN but a few hours from the ND/SD flyway where a lot of snows/blues/ross's roll through from Canada. Gotta go find yourself a blue ross!

Got him in the North MS Delta.
    Haha I wish .
I do have a blue goose.
Last season we were glassing a field full of Snows next to my buddy’s property trying to see if we could see any neck or leg bands… well in the mix next to one of the drainage ditches was a blue / speck hybrid..
imagine a blue Specklebelly; except no white up front next to the bill.

We tried get permission to stalk that drainage ditch from the owner but no dice.. my buddy figured it was best to get me out of there before I became an outlaw  :s:scream:

On a different note one of my carving buddies was hunting out west and in the cornfield across the boat ramp there were about 70 plumed out Eurasians sitting in the field.. He asked about permission to hunt but apparently that landowner was a pretty avid anti-hunter and hated our type.. he’s a pretty straight shooter and even he was about tempted beyond what he could stand that day if the game warden wasn’t already on speed dial

I think I would have had to risk that one for the biscuit… old saying a man wouldn’t cheat for a poke if he didn’t want one bad enough

i would like a hybrid of some sort as well. My buddy in Washington just got Mallard x Wigeon … about the prettiest bird I have ever seen..
I have another friend that got a banded mallard x black hybrid.. I was really hoping for one of them this go around in Maine.

being up that far North do you know any reputable guides / outfitters for Ice fishing?
My soon to be step kid really wants go and he doesn’t ask for much.

Figured I would take him next season as a late graduation present. He is wrapped up in school until graduation in April so we won’t be able to go this year

In a perfect world I would like to do a combo duck hunt / ice fishing trip around the Great Lakes area if we’re going to drive that far north

Oh man, you've seen it all! That's awesome!

Out of all the species and all the crosses there's still something about a drake wood duck that I love. The colors are unreal. And they're tasty!

Hello my fine friends, it’s all been a bit all over the place on the fixture front plus last weekend’s FA Cup 3rd round but we’re back in the PL groove again. The Transfer Window has yet to spark in to life but there’s a few managers under pressure and several tasty contests to grapple with this weekend.

    Friday

Villa v Leeds, feisty one I reckon. The hosts are a smidge more comfortable but neither have been convincing. Home advantage is sufficient 2-1

    Saturday

Man Utd v Man City, the biggy and the hosts in the ascendancy in recent weeks as Erik’s magic is beginning to find purchase.  Not a foregone conclusion and a draw very likely 2-2

Brighton v Liverpool, one point and one place between these two with the Reds in factionally better shape but confidence - the genuine X Factor, is with the hosts.  Might be the best match of the weekend.  I hope quality counts, but am not confident it will. 1-2 heart over head.

Everton v Southampton, lots riding on this with the Toffees in abject condition and bizarrely the bottom side have won two cup games on the bounce this week.  An away win must predicate the departure of Super Frank, surely?  And does a home win mean anything is fixed? See above re confidence, 0-1

Forest v Leicester, the East Midlands derby and it’ll be spicy in the crowd with no love lost between the tribes. Equal points so far and neither convincing at any stage.  The hosts are in better form and, obviously, at home. 2-1

Wolves v West Ham, 19th host 17th and only one point separates them.  The Hammers could easily slip in to the relegation zone. Wolves will be bang up for this. Brutal 1-0.

Brentford v Bournemouth, the Bees are settling in to PL life nicely, sitting 9th in their second season, what could possibly go wrong? Very little against the flimsy Cherries who have racked up three straight defeats. 3-0

    Sunday

Chelsea v Palace, OK this is some kind of joke, right?  Chelsea in terrible form and Potter is under pressure.  Who you gonna call?  Palace, that’s who.  Watch how we gift them a comfortable 3-0. FFS.

Newcastle v Fulham,  the visitors are having a season for the ages but Toon haven’t lost since about 1973, well most of this season anyway.  2-0

Spurs v Arsenal, the North London derby to wrap things up. Gooners are 7 clear at the top, no luck in that after 17.  Spurs are hit and miss, mostly hit against Palace by the way.  But Arsenal, what about them this year eh?  1-2

    And away you go!

Other girls may try to take me away
But you know, it's by your side I will stay

probably standing. I have a hen I’m pairing with him. I generally give my taxidermist leeway, as he’s done more than I’ll see and knows what makes it pop .. I just tell him standing , flying etc and let him work

i brought him 6 mallards and told him I wanted a piece where they are all cupped / committed and landing on my TV
black ducks were added later to be apart of that mix

Here is a pic of my Ross’s Goose as it was curing; right before he mounted on some cypress

Making a drop off at the end of February for the widgeon and another stud black duck, and old squaw me and my lady got in Maine this year

He definitely does some top notch work. Thanks for sharing, I really like that mallard mount. Black ducks are one of my favorites, that and a Pintail are at the top of my list. I've been doing the same with my taxidermist, I just tell him the type of pose and let him run with it. I'm dropping that mallard off tomorrow and shooting for some sort of standing mount (hopefully for the office). That is a great collection you have!

I am super excited!  Gonna miss Yadi this year, but I always liked watching Wilson Contreras play, so excited he is now on the hero side instead of with the villians.
