Meeting almost over. Who in the hell schedules a Friday meeting till 430?

I do, it is recurring, and my entire team are required participants. Starts at 3, ends at 4:30.  I also have 15 minute stand-ups every morning.  The 15 minute meeting description is "15 min standup". This is where all the work really gets done.
The description for the 3-4:30 - "Week in review, weekend and following week planning."

I think the last time we actually held the Friday 3:00-4:30 was just before Christmas, and the time before that was June-July'ish. It is really there as a placeholder so other meetings can not be booked for anyone.    It gets informally cancelled at the morning stand-up,  and officially off the calendar about 2:45'ish just before the reminder goes off.

I have been thanked repeatedly for having that recurring 3:-4:30 by everyone who reports to me. :hang_loose:
@Sea2Ski - Stand up - scrum?  You doing agile management?  EAT THE CHICKENS!!! ;)

@nolaegghead Not agile development, just work in an agile way.  Things move fast, and I am responsible for the automation environment and applications that run on/it.  Tried several methods, and what we are doing now has worked the best.
Got to say, I am a bit confused about the Eat the chickens comment....

@DMW - I will be cooking the chuck (4 bone) version of the shorties later today.  BTW I have never concerned myself with the meat temp on ribs...what temp do you start looking for the "feel?"

I go by feel. The only reason I have a temp probe in is I'll be gone for a few hours and want to monitor progress via my Stoker in case I need to adjust temps while gone.

Heading over to my friend's place to cut some wood. Need to stock up, weather is fire pit time.

@Sea2Ski - There's a classic Agile process story about the chickens and the pigs.  It has to do with opening a restaurant called Ham and Eggs.  The pigs are really invested, the chickens just benefit.

I invited a couple friends to take a ride with me to look at a KTM dirt bike and said I'd buy them lunch.  So I pick them up in my truck.  We're on our way to see the bike, and I stop at a stoplight in the right lane.

All of a sudden, two cars, one chasing the other zoom by me inches from my truck on the shoulder of the road and run the red light - probably going 60 mph.  The driver in the second car has his left arm out the window and he's firing off rounds towards the first car - with his left hand.  Basically a high speed shootout.

My buddy Jack said "run the light and let's see how this plays out".  I said I'm not running the fkn light, are you nuts?

Anyway, he calls 911, describes the active shooting.  Light changes and we keep going the way the cars went - that's where we were headed anyway.  This is a pretty major road and people were standing around....probably wondering WTF is going on...after watching a high speed gun fight.

After about a mile, we see a mess of traffic.  There's a power pole and line down on the road.  And the first car is in someone's living room, the second in their fence.  A police motorcycle and SUV are on the scene.  The accident happened minutes ago.  We pull over and get out.

There's a bloody guy with one hand on his chest and waving the other in the air.  More cops arriving by the minute.  The fire and ambulance arrived, they wouldn't let them on the scene, so the flailing bleeding guy was left alone.

There was a business man there that saw the whole thing and told us how it ended.  Way too early in the process for the cops to take statements/they were too busy, so he basically filled us in.

Front car hit the power pole, flew over a yard, crossed the street and smashed into a brick house, entering the house.  The chase car smashed into the fence.  Everyone got out and the gunfight continued in the yard of the house.  I have a feeling it could have been an assault on the first car driver, not sure if he had a gun or not. The cops got there minutes after it happened (we were there probably 4 or 5 minutes after the crash).  One guy ran off, so I figure the cops aren't going call the scene safe for the EMS and FD until they make sure the guy that ran off isn't hiding in the bushes to finish off what he started.  Somehow we were invisible across the street.  Snapped some pictures.

Anyway, we left after 15 minutes and had to take a detour, called the motorcycle seller and told him we were running late.  Looked at the bike, my motorcycle expert said it's too used - don't buy.  We went and ate muffulettas at DiMartino's - I bought.

Dropped them off, called up my buddy at the paper.  Said we saw a gun fight.  He asked....I'm out looking for the shooting site and all I see is a car accident.  Was that related?  He said the cops aren't telling him sh!t.  I told him what I knew.  Then he said he had to get off the phone.

    Interesting Saturday morning.

    It was like a movie!

Brother Cap, I realize that you asked someone else, but I thought I would chime in just the same. After all, us liberals like to stick our noses in everyone else's business ;)
With my joke said and aside, I start really watching (chuck) ribs once they are in the 193 arena. Not saying that they will be done at 193, but you are usually getting into the ballpark. Depending on how they are cut, prepped, grade and overall connective tissue, they can let loose anywhere from the mid 190's to over 200 degrees. This is why I start checking them close and often once they get into the low 190's. Chuck ribs, if overcooked a little diminish in quality more so than other beef ribs in my opinion. Thus I monitor them a little more than other beef ribs. Also chuck ribs will rise quickly in internal temp once they are in the mid 190's. Thus, I monitor them accordingly. I would rather catch them early than to late my Hillary supporting friend ;)

Dang @nolaegghead - that's more of an adrenaline rush than I ever got with the local Fire Department.  Irrespective of anything else, you must be doin' something right.  And for an encore???
Have a great weekend-BTW-never would have had that level of excitement in Salado unless you were in the middle of it.  ;)

So my friend shot these pictures - he's the guy I was on the phone with who wasn't sure if the car accident was related to the shooting.

They haven't reported on the high speed gun fight yet, it will come out.

    @nolaegghead   Never heard the story.

The comment made was ironic in the timing. Today I was rebuilding the run area for my chickens as it needed some beefing up. And here you said EAT THE CHICKENS!  Ironic!

The chicken is involved, but the pig is committed. Bacon and eggs.
