Reading about New Orleans’ new Covid guidelines for Mardi Gras. The faithful ain’t gonna like what the mayor just did....might get interesting
Last year's Mardi Gras was a super-spreader event.  The no-alcohol in the French Quarter will be very unpopular and probably drive a bunch of people into Jefferson Parish who's been struggling with worse numbers.

I did go to one parade last year as I had friends in town staying at our place and had to make a cameo with them.  I stayed away from the crowds and fortunately came out unscathed.

I'm not participating in anything this year.

If anyone is interested, there's a big "house float" movement here where people decorate their houses as mardi-gras floats.  As you can imagine, some pretty crazy/creative houses.  I'm sure you can find a lot of this online.

Had actually read about that movement and thought of you. So, show us what you’ve prepared.
Sad to say I didn't participate.  If I put up lights it will be either something easy (did the projectors past few years) or to troll people who deserve it...like a star of David in lights if an antisemitic person lives nearby.

I had read a couple years ago there was interest in bringing T20/Australian Big Bash League type of play into the US. Glad to see there does appear to be continuing serious effort to make that happen.

Will be interesting to see what part of the year they decide to hold each season.

I never thought that there would ever be the possibility of hearing any traveler, when asked what is one of the things they hope to see during their visit to the USA, respond with "Why the cricket matches of course!"

Driving into Nashville today to check out some Bluestar ranges.  Still down between Bluestar and Wolf. Cooked on the inlaws Wolf many times and it seems nice, never seen a Bluestar in person.

I have a good friend who hails from the former empire.  He started a cricket league here in the former subjugated colonies.  I asked to join and was told no.  Only Indians and Brits, they would not allow Americans to join.  Said we did not have the patience, skill, intelligence, nor sportsmanship for cricket.

Bit harsh, those remarks.  Some colonies were allowed a small voice.  😁
All I can say is that Canada has a national team and some of the locals there are French!

To be honest I am not sure any sport can be imported and succeed quickly.  For example there’s no coverage of kabaddi or ultimate frisbee here. The guy running MLC is of the view that cricket is the most played sport on earth (based on the population of India) and USA has the most lucrative sports media market.    Which is fine but adding two facts does not assure success. Everyone needs to eat and wear clothes, but edible clothes are few and far between.

Look it’s not my fault the games are coming thick & fast - just try your best to keep up. There’s a peculiar symmetry to this round of fixtures as most of them pitch very similar teams together in league position or form - bar those at The Cottage and Bramall Lane

    Tomorrow

Villa v Arsenal, perhaps the Gunners will keep 11 on the pitch this time? Villa want a win to keep their Euro dreams alive.  2-1 home win.

Burnley v Brighton, the filthy Seagulls have not read the script and refuse to relent. A nightmare 1-0 away win at Liverpool ruined my week. But, Dr Dyche will see them now. 1-0.

Newcastle v Southampton, the visitors 9-0 defeat coincided with @JethroVA requesting more goals per game,  how very precient. Perhaps he’s had the vaccine and it’s his new super-power at the cost of being a 5G mast and Bill Gates’ puppet forever?   Different story this time out.  1-1

Fulham v West Ham, just can’t see the home side gaining enough points to claw out of the bottom three. 1-3 because Lingard brings the Hammers a bit of va-va-voom.

Man Utd v Everton, the Toffees will be a sterner test than Saints were but a home win feels right. 2-0

Stoke v Reading, mid-table mediocrity is luring the Potters down the table and Reading need points to stay in the play-off places.  Much huff & puff but 1-1.

    Sunday

Spurs v West Brom, wheels fully off and toys out the pram at Spurs. Big Sam will love to put one over the ‘Gloomy One’.  Could be feisty and snappy. 1-2 and Jose blames the cleaner having run out of players to alienate.

Wolves v Leicester, whilst the home team beat a depleted Arsenal they are are far from sparkly.  They will either be smote aside or hang on by their nails.  I am going 0-3.

Liverpool v Man City,  easier than I thought 0-2 and good-bye back to back titles for Big Jurgy.

Sheff Utd v Chelsea, who’s that?  Super-Frank?  Never heard of him.  Tippy-Top Tommy T has the blues back in form.  The Blades have found some too but I suspect it’s only the failings of a mortally wounded octopus. (painting pictured with words there - you’re welcome) 0-2.

    Monday

Leeds v Palace, turns out that 2 victories on the bounce converts our manager from the fans’ nemesis to icon inside 4 days.  Eagles’ elderly defence will need to be on absolute top form to contain the free-sprinted Leeds frontline.  Seems a big ask but we are scoring goals again.  2-2.

Now don’t forget to tune in each day for the India v England test match, starts at 2300 Georgia time and you can push through the night.   Howzat?

Been watching these games all morning whilst simultaneously planning a cook for 120 next Friday.  Ribs and chicken.  Going to have this smoker in my driveway for 2 days.  I figure that plus my other grills will give me enough space for 30 racks of St. Louis cut ribs and 100 chicken quarters.  And smoked mac and cheese and beans and grilled veggies. We'll keep the cooks masked and/or distanced.  That's a Yeti 65 in front of it for scale.

@Foghorn- Glad you are able to hold your annual Q celebration.  Hopefully you have help with feeding that rig throughout the cook.  A true banquet awaits.  Enjoy the cook and fellowship that comes with the event.
