@WeberWho   That's some bad luck.  Next time discuss the impending throat punch while making the apt.

Sure hope third time's the charm for you.

@WeberWho ... are you looking for a specific auto?  Why the Chicago area?

Illinois has this neat taxing plan that pushes folks towards trading in their old vehicles when purchasing a new one.  If I buy a new vehicle and don't trade in my old one, then I pay taxes on the full price of the new vehicle.  If I trade in my old one, then I pay taxes on the difference in price.  Makes it hard to justify selling your old vehicle privately ... unless it's a junker.

That also means that dealers have some good used vehicles.
@Jeepster47 My wife wants a Saturn Vue. (small suv) The last they made of the updated styled Saturn Vue was 2008-2009. She's has owned 3 Saturn's in the past and wants to go back. Her current Buick Regal is leaking oil and 2nd gear starts to slip every few weeks. The couple Vues I did find in Chicago were under 50,000 miles and priced the same as the one here with 65,000 miles. So a few hundred dollars in gas and a stay at my sister's place in Milwaukee seemed like a logical idea to save 15,000+ miles on a used vehicle. Not so much. 1,000 miles later no car yet. Hopefully 3rd time is the charm

@WeberWho ... okay, now I understand.  If she gets a hankering for a Chrysler product, I can introduce you to an extremely honest dealership.  Small town dealership that services the Peoria and Bloomington/Normal area.  They do what they say they will do and when they say they will do it.  The neat thing about small towns is that businesses don't survive for long if they don't take care of the customer.  They are a positive part of the community, or they're out of business. Heck, their lead tech lives across the road from @Ozzie_Isaac.  Talked to him a few months ago and he mentioned something that was fixed on my 1989 vehicle.

@nolaegghead ... not all states do that with the taxes ... at least Michigan didn't the last time I checked.  But, will concede the point that probably more than less do it.

Get an 07 with the V6. It uses a Honda engine and tranny.

I hear you @Eggcelsior My wife wants the newer style with a 4 cylinder instead of the v6. Going to be slower than dirt but she wants the extra 2-3 mpg. The Honda motor/transmission would be nice

As of 2011, very few states don't have the trade-in tax credit. Not sure about the current exact number.

@Legume Absolutely. Sprinkles are essential to temping

@tarheelmatt Nope this one is Husker Red backlit with the glow in the dark silicone boot and this one also sleeps in a black leather case. I left the Panther Thermapen on the rack for you buddy.

I'm confident enough in my masculinity to own a Hello Kitty hot pink Thermapen.  The real reason I bought it was because

    1. On sale
    2. I can spot the sucker from 50 yards away

@Eggcelsior yep! A 10 year old Honda engine and transmission are just getting warmed up. I had mechanics follow me out of the shop offering to buy my 10 year old CRV when I took it in for its routine maintenance.  You get bored of a Honda long before it stops working.

Exactly, like really loud and ugly luggage. Easy to spot on the turnstile.

Count me in your corner on this one. But, he's certainly not going to listen to SWMBO complain about not getting what she wanted for the next 5-10 years. The Honda is well worth the 500 bucks extra you will spend in gas every year. I'm not convinced of that either. It will depend on the driving conditions IMO.
