This CYA attitude on the part of hospital management in these trying times is utter bullsh!t!

This seems sh*tty at face value, but I think each of us would be fired for speaking to the press in regards to our employer without permission regardless of a pandemic. Random nurses, doctors and hospital staff giving unsolicited interviews could potentially do more harm than good.

Gonna have to disagree. When I was still working (I'm retired) it was also normal company practice that any requests from media were to be referred to the PR folks to deal with. In normal times, in normal corporations I understand the value of that approach.
In this situation, where it seems to start with some government leaders initially ignoring/downplaying the scope/magnitude of the problem, I think the public is better served by hearing directly from the folks in the trenches/front lines.
China initially tried to downplay the Covid19 problem and it was left to some citizens and medical professionals to go public with information about what was really happening. In China some of those folks were detained and China's normal brigades of internet censors scrubbed such commentary/criticism of the government from their internet. One of those folks was a medical doctor who was arrested and later died from Covid19. Ultimately, China could of course no longer hide the magnitude of the problem and was forced to deal with it differently.
Here in the US our leadership also refused to deal with the problem in an upfront and honest manner. Hearing from first responders is helpful in conveying how serious the problem is. Those shared observations prompt the rest of us to make enough noise to force the hand of our "leaders" to respond with serious action.
It seems, to me anyway, that firing medical personnel at a time when the need for medical personnel outstrips the available supply is criminally petty.
I am gonna disagree with HeavyG. As a corporate attorney, you most definitely and legally can get fired for speaking about your company on many topics. Not ALL speech is free.

My wife is close friends with 2 nurses that are the type to hear a rumor and spread it on Facebook as fact. We don't need these people speaking to the press. One sent a text out a few weeks ago about how the coast guard was getting ready to patrol the streets.  Medical staff are invaluable, heroic even, but the hospital needs to be careful and filter out the noise generated from idiots like my wife's friends. The best way to do this is a lockdown on talking to the press.

You can even legally get fired for social media posts that are non job related but put your character or ability to work with others in a bad light. Once for my professional continuing education I attended a seminar titled "Fired by Facebook". Most states have at will employment and jobs in many other states have moral clauses in their employee handbooks. Usually they just get encouraged strongly to resign.

Where did I say it was illegal to fire folks? I was saying that it is incredibly stupid for them to do so in these trying times.

Here's some more hospital management stupidity on display:
Sure, during a global/nationwide crisis of a highly communicable disease, where folks are being ordered by the government to stay at home and to keep "social distancing", let's fire a doctor for walking down a public hallway while wearing a mask.

Pulled the first Salami at 40% weight loss, will let the others go longer...not bad for first attempt ...little salty but not bad, better than the store by a long shot, I now know the direction to work toward ..all spices intensify with the drying and are more crucial than on greasy sausage....overall pleased

What was the source of your original recipe?  I've made a couple out of Ruhlman/Poleyn's "Charcuterie", and they were both way too salty, to my taste.

@botch , 2 guys and a cooler blog , but I think they adapted it from Rhulman

Fortunately I did back down the salt to start with, I think I went 2.75% salt .25 cure 2 , I feel comfortable backing it down to 2.5% All In as I'm using Starter and Mold 600 to help overcome hurdles ...

My fresh sausage I started out @ 2% now I like it better @ 1.5%

The CoronaCapture has you digging down into some weird Webholes, and I found this.
I know at least three of you guys are as old/older than me, and remember "The Dating Game".  Here, some unknown girl (but Dean Martin's daughter) chooses some unknown guy (Steve Martin) to go on a vacation to Italy.  Soundtrack from Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.
Wow, this was a blast from the "WAAY" past!

That's my backup plan too, and rabbits - they're everywhere right now. However, I was just listening to a podcast yesterday where they said it's still unknown/unclear is CWD can cross-over to humans.  Considering how Coronavirus jumped species I'm starting to look at all wildlife a little differently now.

Mine as well. Deer, Rabbits, a dozen chickens, a pond full of fish  and a big garden. Had to wait for a flock of 20 wild turkey's to cross my driveway yesterday. Food won't be my problem. It's all the other stuff.

Yeah, I don't get it either.  Took him the better part of a day, but he got the hitch attached.  Ended up using a DC stick welder....the MIG doesn't do well with rusty metal.
