I just want to thank everyone for this delicious post.  I haven't been able to keep up as much as usual with the forum, and I was stuck in a bit of travel hell yesterday trying to get out of NC last night as the snow was coming in.  I'm pretty sure more than a couple of people thought I was a screw or two loose as I was sitting there laughing at my phone.

my two or three cents

• 'government sucks' is a horrible generalization.  politicians suck, government follows.  sure, a little more accountability, common sense and responsibility here and there, but there are companies that are run poorly as well - they just go out of business.
• if you're fat and out of shape, take responsibility and eat a more moderate diet and move more.  government isn't putting the food in your mouth, neither is McDonalds.  I'm sure we've all seen the guy at the gas station pumping premium gas into his precious car while stuffing his pie-hole with three corn-dogs, a bag of doritos and a 64-oz mountain dew.  how about also buying some premium fuel for your body
  
• some teachers should be paid more, but then, there should be a way to get rid of the crappy ones.  I believe Austin school district does pay into SS, probably one of the few school districts that does...they also have a pension.  it's not just a problem of pension vs SS - look at airlines and flight attendants.  I would say at least 50% hate their job as much as I hate having them on my flight - burned out, need to go, but the system keeps them there.  I would say union is the issue, but that too simplistic.  Win at all costs is what's killing us, we've allowed ourselves to be led by people that refuse to believe in synergistic solutions - they want to win even if it kills the host.

"..emits as much..."  makes it sound like they have an equal sign between the ship and the millions of cars. 

Science isn't funny, it's how it's abused to make the absolute wrong points time after time.  The ship fuel has tons of sulfur.  Period.  You burn that and you get acid rain, which is another problem all together from changing the composition of air on the planet.

I have a few guys that get together for sticks, scotch and conversation. All political and religious. A contractor, medical businessman, financial advisor and a Lutheran padre. If you're a fundamentalist on any subject...you're f#$!ed. I've learned a lot from having open, civil conversations. I've never heard of anyone changing their mind through an argument...especially online. 
I can Google any subject and have "facts" to support my side. 
It's hard to find actual news and not an opinion.
My job is to provide for my family, love them, drink PBR's, egg food and enjoy life as much as possible.
