Have only used the pellet grill but one time since September. The food from the BGE produces far better results. This is the 2nd bird cooks I have had and they by far the best bird cooks I have had...... love this BGE

I agree with all above. I only do spatchcock. Let us know if you need details.

I had to Google spatchcock, looks like you just butterfly it. I've done that with pound chicken, never tried it without the pounding. ..... going to have to try it out.

Just cut out the backbone and break the breast bone( I give it one good CPR chest compression). Lay it out and 400 raised direct. Dry for the night in the fridge for better skin. Easy peasy. Good stuff.

Spatchcock is the way, you will never go back.Dan, Columbia,Mo.

Looks like a winner to me. If I may ask, what pellet grill did/do you have?

Awesome my friend. Nothing wrong with a pellet smoker at all in my opinion. I have been known to cook on other cookers besides the egg as well. A man can't have to many ways to cook the way I see it.Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

My father in law has a Traeger. It works great for him as he is 78. Just turn it on and go. I've had some great ribs and wings off it.Kennesaw Ga. XL Egg. Cheers, Kevin

@uwing like @SGH said, there is nothing wrong with having multiple cookers. I love my BGE but I sometimes fire up my webber kettle from time to time. I've never used a pellet cooker before but would love to give it a time sometime. Welcome to the cult and I looks forward to seeing some of your cooks!1 large BGE, Spartanburg SC

+1 on the foil -
@Ragtop99 I usually put a foil pan under with added water to promote moisture. I simply forget this time. Here some chicken thighs with a mopping sauce. Never thought of just wrapping the platesetter, seems to be more logical. Thanks for the tip!

@uwing, welcome.
Funny, I joined a Facebook meat smoking page, and as soon as I said I used an egg, the groaning and lame comments towards me started. "You have to be rich", "we built ours" "we only believe in pellets and chips","do you even hunt?" and on and on.... Glad to see you have an open mind, and like more than one type of cooker.
This forum has helped me use my egg to it's fullest, hope you enjoy yourself.

@anton if the same page I joined, the one that sells the t-shirts. That can be a tough crowd. Oddly pellet smokers usually get most the grief. They think you should be chopping down trees and rubbing two sticks together to stoke a fire. .... lol..... It can be a good resource though.
