@Legume how did they like the JW? I prefer JW black over the blue personally. just not one of my favorites. The Maccalan 18 is another story. Sounds like one hell of a night.
-
@Legume, I hope that was $150 for the bottle. Good call on the Woodford Double Oaked, that is my favorite everyday bourbon.MMBGE / Large BGE / XL BGE (Craigslist Find) / SF30x80 cabinet trailer - "Ol' Mortimer" / Outdoor kitchen in progress.

Umm, nope. That was for the drink. Clear rip-off, the Macallan and the JW Blue were in the $50-60 range I think. We were spending money that was essentially already spent whether we bought a drink or not and we didn't have the whole night to sit there unfortunately.Love you bro!

Dang-asking and getting 150 for the 12 year old is quite a stretch. Around here you will see the 20 year old Van Winkle for 75-90 a shot but not up in that rarified atmosphere.
And I'm with you on the Double Oaked-that said, occasionally I can find a bottle of Woodford's Single Barrel. Try it some time. Definitely a different taste but a great celebratory pour.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
Clear rip-off for a single pour. I paid $300 for the bottle of PVW23.MMBGE / Large BGE / XL BGE (Craigslist Find) / SF30x80 cabinet trailer - "Ol' Mortimer" / Outdoor kitchen in progress.

I'll have to ask if my local guy can get me the Woodford Single Barrel - haven't seen that on the shelves around here.MMBGE / Large BGE / XL BGE (Craigslist Find) / SF30x80 cabinet trailer - "Ol' Mortimer" / Outdoor kitchen in progress.

@CTMike - You can definitely taste a difference across the various Woodfords from their regular to the Double Oaked and the Single Barrel. I am partial to the DO for my routine fix.
And if your local guy can get you some PVM 23 you are riding in high fashion.
I am nursing a bottle of the 20 yr old-and don't have a route to a restock. (Do have a PVW 12 year old when the 20 bites the dust). My favorite for the price point is the 15 yr old but can't seem to score that any more either.
And I remember when you could walk into any liquor store and always find the 12 and most times the 15 on the shelf. Not that long ago-around 10-12 years. The market definitely moves. Have a great weekend.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -

Finally getting around to enjoying the first pipe of the season... Thanks @Jstroke for the bag of smoke. It was part of the gift exchange package he sent me... Good stuff, pairs well with my beverage

Working 12 hour night shift so black coffee and water. In 16 hours expect a beer or a wee nip of bourbon will be consumed to celebrate 3 nights off.
