I don't drink the brown water, so I don't normally look at this thread, but tonight EweTube fed me this video of Anthony Bourdaine watching David Chang visit the folks who make Buffalo Trace, and eventually fall off his barstool (Chang, not Bourdaine).
But at the 4:00 mark or so the proprietor of BT talked about sourcing the wood for his aging barrels, referring to the species, year(s), terriore, and even the side of the hill (how much sunshine) the trees get; gets buried into the weeds as badly as the wine snobs. Thought some here might be interested in that.
