) for the throwdown how about making it simpler like just make seafood, or mexican, or a burrito throwdown etc. instead of plating being important i would rather see a progessive cook from prep to ingrediants to the actual cook itself, its easier to see ingrediants and how it was cooked to know if it was good or not, winning because you have nice plates just isnt right

The idea is to do these things on a regular basis. It's only bragging' rights and you get to call the ingredient for the next one. They are great in the winter if you are in a cold area to break the boredom. The ingredients are better if the cook has the option of what to make out of them. So you would call something like chicken thighs and asparagus, beef and mushrooms or lamb and beans. You can get some great ideas from the entries.

Oh geez...an online food contest with voting? Does nobody remember what happened last time I entered one of those? I kid, I kid. I think that @Little_Steven suggested the whole idea, so he should pick a category (burgers, pizza, etc) or a few ingredients (protein, veggie, fruit, etc) and let us use our imagination and run with it. The second would give us more room to get creative. But he came up with the idea, so let's run with his idea. I'm getting excited. I think one week from announcement to submission for photos would be good. Announce on Monday, submit by Sunday.
