Days are getting shorter
Never had an issue all summer, but days are getting shorter and it is going to be harder to see out before we know it. I need recommendations on lighting options. I have a standards size table. I am looking for battery operated LED lights. I want to be able to light both the grill and the table work space. I don't mind getting multiple lights, however, I have a grill cover that fits nicely over the table, so I either need lights that can fold down against the table or quickly and easily detach and reattach when I need them.
I don't have a ton of outside lighting, so I need something that can light the table independently of other lights. I am probably going to add a solar LED light to give me a little extra in the area, but can't add any more permanent outside lighting until I get my electrical box upgraded in the next 6 months or so.
I was hoping that this group would have some previous experience with table lighting that might help me out.
Thanks!

Great table. Might consider a light mounted on a post separate from the table....fed off the floods maybe.Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

I use microphone goosenecks and clamps to hold LED lights for my egg table and most of my bench tools in the shop.
The gooseneck is around $6, the base $3 and the clamp something like $6. A good 18650 battery flashlight is around $18. Two 18650 batteries and a charger around $13.
This light puts out about 250 lumen - almost too bright on full.
The light swivels and handles the cover fine - never have to remove it. Everything is water resistant. I don't worry about anything getting wet. You can remove the light in 2 seconds and you have a flashlight.
stand parts, batteries and charger bought from Amazon, the flashlight from dealextreme.com

@nolaegghead - I am impressed, great advice, of course when it comes to stand by lighting you folks in the Big Easy are among the world's experts. The use of a light that can double when the power goes south is a nice side benefit and it is an inexpensive easy solution to @pmckinney4 problem until he reworks his electrical panel. And I thought you were just a #36 axe wielding chicken splitin', gas powered leaf blowing fire starting maniac.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

I thought I was doing well with our standby generator running the whole house until the damn thing broke right in the middle of hurricane Isaac. Fortunately, it was just the temp sensor failing (shorted closed), so I just checked the block temp with an IR thermometer and opened the circuit, and it ran for another 5 days until we got power. I was so trashed when it failed (around 4AM) I just said F-it and went back to sleep for a couple of hours before going out into the hellish rain and wind to fix.

I just put in 4" round led's that swivel in the soffits. I ran the power from the light on the outside of the door that is switched inside. I guess i could put a dimmer on it if needed, but it seems to operate well.

Thanks so much for the info....does not appear that the fl is waterproof...is yours?
-
Mine is. Most of those types are - they have o-rings in the barrel. I have about 15 different LED flashlights, I think the one on my egg table is from dealextreme.com

You want a flashlight were you can focus the beam - most lights have a long throw - that equates to a bright small spot on the food with the light that close.

I got a light in the BBQ section at Lowe's. It has a magnet on the bottom and also a clamp mechanism. I have mine clamped on the countertop. It works well and is plenty bright. I don't have a picture of it to post. My table is about the same size as yours. I have my light mounted to the left of my egg toward the front. You may want to get a second one to light up the left side of your top.
My egg is on the opposite side of my table in comparison to yours.

thanks for the info Nola!

If there are lights on the circuit, you could change them out to LED and have enough left over for your cooking lights. Cheaper than replacing your panel.

I bought an outdoor flood light kit from home depot for 13 bucks and wired it to an extension cord. You can easily mount fixture to a 4x4 or something extending from your table. The fixture provides an ample amount of light .

I have one of these: http://www.burninglog.com.au/accessories/sitro-bbq-grill-light-flexible-arm.html
and it does "okay" for lighting up immediate areas but I like to light up the whole area so 99% of the time, I just use an extension cord, a cheap shop light with a clamp, and a daylight CFL bulb.

Is this one any good? They're cheap, less than $20.When in doubt add more pepper.
